Dodgers' Justin Turner: Aiming for Tuesday return

Turner (ankle) is expected to start Tuesday in the series opener against Tampa Bay after missing a week with a left ankle sprain, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.

Turner, who has not played since Sept. 7, has been nursing a mildly sprained ankle, though he's expected to resurface at the start of the next series. The Dodgers already have the division and the best overall record in the National League locked up and do not have an overwhelmingly difficult schedule to end the season. With that being said, Turner may rest more than he's used to in order to get him to full strength for the playoffs. The Dodgers have plenty of depth all around the infield and should not try and risk their star third baseman's health. Blake Snell (elbow) is in line to start Tuesday as he makes his return from the injured list, which could serve as a tough matchup for Turner and company.

  • Bryce Harper 1B | PHI

Phillies' Bryce Harper: Makes early exit Sunday

Harper was ejected from Sunday's game against the Red Sox, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Harper was tossed from the dugout during the fourth inning as he voiced his displeasure with a called third strike earlier in the frame. The 26-year-old finishes his afternoon 0-for-2 with two strikeouts and is 8-for-39 so far in September.

  • Harold Ramirez DH | WAS

Marlins' Harold Ramirez: Not starting Sunday

Ramirez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants, Andre Fernandez of The Athletic reports.

Ramirez will take a seat for the third time in the last four games with a .243/.317/.405 slash line over 42 plate appearances in September. Jon Berti will start in left field and bat eighth in the series finale.

  • Rockies' Charlie Blackmon: Ends homer drought

Blackmon went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 11-10 win over the Padres.

Blackmon went deep off Padres starter Eric Lauer in the third inning, the first of six runs in the frame for the Rockies. Blackmon hadn't homered since Aug. 19, a rare span of 22 games without a long ball for the strong-hitting outfielder. Blackmon now has 28 homers, 78 RBI and 104 runs scored to go with a .317/.362/.574 slash line in 129 games this season.

  • Brandon Belt DH | TOR

    Giants' Brandon Belt: Goes 3-for-4

Belt went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles in Friday's 1-0 win over the Marlins.

The three-hit night, his second in his last five games, accounted for a third of the Giants' hits in the contest. Belt has gone 8-for-19 with four doubles and a triple in his last five games, raising his season line to .235/.340/.405 in 142 games. He's added 16 homers, 56 RBI and 71 runs scored.

  • Alex Dickerson DH | ATL

Giants' Alex Dickerson: Could return Tuesday

Dickerson (oblique) is scheduled to take live batting practice Friday and could return to the starting lineup Tuesday against Boston, Amy Gutierrez of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Dickerson appears to be nearing a return to action, though a more concrete timetable for his return should emerge following Friday's activities.

  • Alex Dickerson DH | ATL

    Giants' Alex Dickerson: Remains sidelined

Dickerson (oblique) isn't in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Marlins, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

San Francisco was optimistic that Dickerson would be ready to play by the weekend, but he'll be held out again Friday. There hasn't been another update on his status yet, so he'll be considered day-to-day moving forward. Dickerson received a cortisone shot Saturday.

  • Harold Ramirez DH | WAS

    Marlins' Harold Ramirez: Idle Friday

Ramirez isn't in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Giants, Andre Fernandez of The Athletic reports.

Ramirez will take a seat for the second straight contest, though he did receive an opportunity to pinch hit Thursday. Jon Berti gets the nod in left field and will bat eighth.

  • Rockies' Charlie Blackmon: Situated on bench

Blackmon isn't in the starting lineup for Friday's game against San Diego.

Blackmon is set for a rare day off with lefty Joey Lucchesi slated to toe the rubber for the opposition. Yonathan Daza gets the nod in right field and will bat seventh.

Dodgers' Justin Turner: Won't play over weekend

Turner (ankle) has been ruled out for the Dodgers' weekend series against the Mets, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

Turner has been day-to-day with a mild left ankle sprain, and after being held out of Friday's lineup, the Dodgers announced that the All-Star third baseman won't take the field at all over the weekend. He could have a chance to return beginning Tuesday at home against Tampa Bay.
