  • Mets' Daniel Vogelbach: Rests for second game of twin bill

Vogelbach is out of the lineup for the second game of Sunday's doubleheader with the Nationals.

Vogelbach will sit for the second game of the twin bill after he went 1-for-4 with a run scored in the Mets' 3-2 loss in the resumption of Saturday's suspended game. With Vogelbach on the bench for the nightcap, Brandon Nimmo will get a turn as the Mets' designated hitter.

  • Joc Pederson DH | TEX

Giants' Joc Pederson: Out again with hand injury

Pederson (hand) is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Pederson will miss a second game in a row after he was hit in the hand during a bunt attempt Friday against Arizona. J.D. Davis will be the designated hitter while hitting cleanup, and Casey Schmitt will hit sixth as the starting third baseman. Pederson is considered day-to-day with a chance to return to the lineup against the Phillies on Monday.

  • Matt Carpenter DH | STL

Padres' Matt Carpenter: On bench again Sunday

Carpenter is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers.

Carpenter finds himself on the bench for the third time in four games, with two of his absences coming against right-handed starting pitchers, including Sunday's opponent Tony Gonsolin. Though he's occupied the strong side of a platoon at designated hitter for much of the season, Carpenter's hold on that role may be slipping while he's hitting just .111/.200/.111 so far in May. Nelson Cruz will get the nod at DH on Sunday and could eventually usurp Carpenter as the Friars' preferred option against both right- and left-handed pitching.

  • Marcell Ozuna DH | PIT

Braves' Marcell Ozuna: Slugs seventh homer

Ozuna went 2-for-3 with a walk and a two-run home run in Saturday's 5-2 loss to the Blue Jays.

He supplied all of Atlanta's offense with a second-inning shot off Jose Berrios. Ozuna has flipped the switch in May, batting .333 (10-for-30) through eight games with five of his seven homers on the year and 10 of his 12 RBI.

  • Bryce Harper DH | PHI

Phillies' Bryce Harper: Stays hot Saturday

Harper went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run, a double, a walk and two total runs scored in Saturday's 7-4 win over the Rockies.

Harper's strung together a trio of multi-hit efforts, and this was his second game in a row with multiple RBI. The 30-year-old is batting .361 with a 1.050 OPS, two homers, five RBI, 11 runs scored, a stolen base and three doubles across 41 plate appearances.

  • J.D. Martinez DH | NYM

Dodgers' J.D. Martinez: Hammers three-run homer

Martinez went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run and a walk in Saturday's 4-2 win over the Padres.

Martinez's first-inning blast was ultimately all the offense the Dodgers needed in the win. He's gone 2-for-7 with a walk and three strikeouts over two games since he returned from a back injury that cost him nearly three weeks. The designated hitter is slashing a decent .253/.311/.547 with five homers, 18 RBI, 14 runs scored, nine doubles and two triples through 25 contests.

  • Joc Pederson DH | TEX

Giants' Joc Pederson: Dealing with right hand injury

Pederson is day-to-day with a right hand injury after being struck by a pitch during Friday's game against Arizona, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports. X-rays returned negative.

Pederson is out of the lineup after he took a pitch off his right hand while squaring to bunt Friday. The positive news is there's no fracture, but the outfielder will miss at least one game while he recovers. Wilmer Flores is acting as DH with Pederson out of the lineup.

  • Joc Pederson DH | TEX

Giants' Joc Pederson: Takes seat against D-Backs

Pederson is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Diamondbacks, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Pederson takes a seat after homering and drawing a pair of walks while also being hit by a pitch against Arizona on Friday. The left-handed hitter was hit in the hand, so it's possible his absence is related to that occurrence. Wilmer Flores will be the designated hitter and hit second against Zac Gallen and the Diamondbacks.

  • Pirates' Andrew McCutchen: Day off Saturday

McCutchen will sit Saturday against the Orioles, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.

McCutchen has been managed carefully by the Pirates this season, spending most of his time as the designated hitter while getting frequent off days. The plan seems to be working, as he's hitting .248/.362/.478. His .840 OPS is his best mark since 2017, the final year of his previous stint in Pittsburgh. Miguel Andujar will be the designated hitter in his absence.

  • Matt Carpenter DH | STL

Padres' Matt Carpenter: Heads to bench Saturday

Carpenter is not in Saturday's lineup against the Dodgers.

With lefty Julio Urias starting for the Dodgers, Nelson Cruz is starting at designated hitter and batting fifth. Carpenter hasn't started against a lefty since April 25.
