  • Miguel Cabrera DH | DET

    Tigers' Miguel Cabrera: Sitting Sunday

Cabrera is not in the lineup for Sunday's game in Cincinnati.

An 0-for-3, two-walk performance Saturday lowered Cabrera's average to .273 with two home runs, six RBI and six walks in his last 10 games. With no designated hitter in play, he takes a seat while Jonathan Schoop mans first base.

  • Shohei Ohtani DH | LAD

Angels' Shohei Ohtani: Two hits, homer

Ohtani went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and was caught stealing in a 4-1 win over Texas on Saturday.

One night after getting the win on the mound, Ohtani extended Los Angeles' lead to 4-0 with a 426-foot bomb to right off Texas starter Kolby Allard in the sixth inning and later singled in the eighth but was caught stealing second. The phenom's MLB-leading 43rd long ball snapped an 0-for-10 skid at the plate, though his ninth caught stealing also leads the majors.

  • Yordan Alvarez DH | HOU

    Astros' Yordan Alvarez: X-rays negative

Alvarez (knee) underwent X-rays on Saturday that came back negative, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Alvarez was diagnosed with a left knee contusion after exiting Saturday's game against San Diego, and he doesn't appear to be dealing with any structural damage. Manager Dusty Baker is optimistic that the 24-year-old won't require a trip to the injured list, so he should be considered day-to-day.

  • Mark Canha LF | TEX

Athletics' Mark Canha: Fourth homer in five games

Canha went 2-for-4 with a home run, four RBI and two total runs scored in Saturday's 10-8 loss to Toronto.

After an underwhelming August, Canha has started to regain his composure at the plate by posting an eight-game hitting streak. He's gone 10-for-31 (.323) with four homers, 10 RBI and eight runs scored in that stretch, with all four long balls coming in his last five contests. The 32-year-old's slash line is at .239/.365/.415 with 16 homers, 53 RBI, 81 runs scored and 12 stolen bases through 518 plate appearances overall.

  • Yordan Alvarez DH | HOU

Astros' Yordan Alvarez: Suffers left knee contusion

Alvarez suffered a left knee contusion in Saturday's game against the Padres, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Alvarez had to be helped off the field after he fouled a ball off his left knee Saturday, and he's considered day-to-day. The 24-year-old will likely be evaluated to determine the extent of the issue, but it doesn't appear as though he's dealing with a serious injury.

  • Yordan Alvarez DH | HOU

Astros' Yordan Alvarez: Exits Saturday's game

Alvarez exited Saturday's game against the Padres with an apparent leg injury, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Alvarez went down after fouling a ball off his left leg in the top of the fifth inning, and he needed some assistance to get off the field. He went 1-for-1 with a walk prior to his departure, and it's not yet clear whether he'll be available for Sunday's series finale in San Diego.

  • Franmil Reyes DH | WAS

Indians' Franmil Reyes: Mashes pinch-hit homer

Reyes went 1-for-1 with a two-run homer in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Red Sox.

With Cleveland down to its final out, Reyes was summoned off the bench to hit for Yu Chang. Facing Adam Ottavino, Reyes got down to his final strike before absolutely demolishing a hanging slider over the Green Monster to tie the game at three. While Boston went on to win the game, the swing had to feel good for the 26-year-old, as he entered play mired in a 1-for-19 slump over his last five games.

  • Luis Torrens DH | NYM

Mariners' Luis Torrens: Out of lineup

Torrens will not start Saturday's game against the Diamondbacks, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

Torrens has emerged as the Mariners' regular designated hitter, but that spot isn't available under National League rules. He'll sit for the second straight game Saturday and will likely remain on the bench Sunday unless the Mariners give him a start behind the plate or at first base.

  • Franmil Reyes DH | WAS

Indians' Franmil Reyes: Day off Saturday

Reyes will sit Saturday against the Red Sox.

Reyes will get a rest after going 1-for-19 with 11 strikeouts in his last five games. Jose Ramirez will rest his legs as the designated hitter in his absence, with Yu Chang starting in Ramirez's usual spot at the hot corner.

  • Shohei Ohtani DH | LAD

Angels' Shohei Ohtani: Whiffs eight in win

Ohtani (9-1) allowed two earned runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out eight across seven innings, earning the win over the Rangers on Friday. He went 0-for-4 at the plate.

Ohtani surrendered a two-run homer in the second inning to Jason Martin that tied the game. However, the Angels regained the lead as Ohtani fired five shutout innings before being relieved in the eighth. It appears his hand/wrist injury didn't affect him as he threw 117 pitches in his outing. The 26-year-old has a 2.97 ERA and 1.07 WHIP with a 10.8 K/9. In addition, he is slashing .258/.358/.612, leading MLB with 42 home runs.
