  • Padres' Freddy Fermin: Getting rest Sunday

Fermin is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers.

After starting behind the plate in each of the past four games, Fermin will get a breather for the series finale. Elias Diaz will handle catching duties for San Diego, forming a battery with starting pitcher Nick Pivetta.

  • Will Smith C | LAD

Dodgers' Will Smith: Taking seat for series finale

Smith is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Padres.

Smith looks to be receiving a routine breather after he started at catcher or designated hitter in each of the Dodgers' last five games. Dalton Rushing will spell him behind the dish and bat ninth in Sunday's series finale.

  • Mitch Garver C | SEA

Mariners' Mitch Garver: Playing time on upswing

Garver will start at designated hitter and bat sixth in Sunday's game against the Athletics.

Garver will stay in the lineup for the fifth time in six games, but his uptick in playing time has mostly been a byproduct of Seattle facing five left-handed starting pitchers during that stretch. The 34-year-old is slashing just .179/.263/.274 with a 33.9 percent strikeout rate over 118 plate appearances versus righties this season, so he doesn't have much of a case to move outside of his current short-side platoon role.

  • Angels' Logan O'Hoppe: Receiving rest Sunday

O'Hoppe is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cubs.

O'Hoppe will get some rest for Sunday's matinee after he had started behind the plate in both of the previous two contests. Travis d'Arnaud will form a battery with starting pitcher Kyle Hendricks in the series finale versus Chicago.

  • Angels' Travis d'Arnaud: Replacing resting O'Hoppe

D'Arnaud will start at catcher and bat sixth in Sunday's game against the Cubs.

With No. 1 backstop Logan O'Hoppe getting a breather for the series finale after starting at catcher Friday and Saturday, d'Arnaud will receive a turn behind the dish Sunday. Since the All-Star break, d'Arnaud is hitting a lowly .091/.216/.136 with zero home runs, zero steals, one RBI and three runs in 16 games.

  • Jonah Heim C | TEX

Rangers' Jonah Heim: Set to lose work to Higashioka

Heim is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Guardians.

Heim had started six of the previous seven contests, but with Kyle Higashioka returning to the lineup Wednesday after recovering from a hamstring injury, the duo will move back into a timeshare. With a .788 OPS since the All-Star break, Higashioka has handily outproduced Heim, who has posted a .638 OPS over that same stretch.

  • Giants' Patrick Bailey: Resting Sunday

Bailey is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Brewers.

Bailey will receive a breather for Sunday's day game after he started the prior two contests. Andrew Knizner will handle catching duties for the Giants in the series finale.

  • Blue Jays' Alejandro Kirk: Idle Sunday

Kirk is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Marlins.

After starting behind the plate in four straight contests, Kirk will get a routine breather. Tyler Heineman will spell him at catcher and bat ninth.

  • Phillies' Rafael Marchan: Picking up rare start

Marchan will start at catcher and bat ninth in Sunday's game against the Nationals.

With top backstop J.T. Realmuto receiving a rare day off, Marchan will pick up just his 24th start of the season. He's slashing .177/.270/.241 with one home run, six runs and six RBI across 90 plate appearances in 2025.

  • Braves' Drake Baldwin: Idle for series finale

Baldwin is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets.

Baldwin started the first two games of the series, but he'll head to the bench Sunday while southpaw David Peterson takes the hill for New York. Sean Murphy will handle catching duties for Atlanta.
