    Murphy started three of four games during a series against the Diamondbacks this week, going 3-for-11 with one walk, one home run and three RBI. He'll begin Friday's contest in the dugout while Travis d'Arnaud starts behind the plate and bats eighth against Padres knuckleballer Matt Waldron.

    Nido will yield to Miguel Amaya behind the plate for the third time in five games. Nido is 4-for-19 (.211) with three runs scored and two RBI during July.

    Wells is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Orioles.

    The lefty-hitting Wells will take a seat Friday with southpaw Cade Povich on the bump for Baltimore. Jose Trevino will bat eighth in his place.

    Naylor is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Rays.

    Naylor will give way to Austin Hedges behind the dish after catching back-to-back games. Naylor has launched two homers in his last 10 at-bats and has a .626 OPS over 225 plate appearances in 2024.

    Fry is absent from the starting nine for Friday's game against the Rays.

    Fry is hitless in his last 11 at-bats and will get the night off Friday to clear his head. In his place, Angel Martinez will bat second as the DH.

    Cardinals' Ivan Herrera: Activated, sent to Triple-A

    The Cardinals activated Herrera (back) from the 10-day injured list and optioned him to Triple-A Memphis.

    Herrera has been shelved since June 22 due to soreness in his lower back, and although he's now healthy, the 24-year-old won't rejoin the big-league roster. Pedro Pages will handle backup catching duties behind Willson Contreras in St. Louis.

  • Phillies' Garrett Stubbs: Won't face lefty

    Stubbs is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Athletics.

    As per usual, Stubbs will yield to Rafael Marchan behind the dish with a lefty pitcher on the mound in Hogan Harris. Stubbs is slashing .194/.259/.243 across 112 plate appearances this season.

  • Royals' Freddy Fermin: Heading to bench Friday

    Fermin is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Red Sox.

    Fermin started the previous six games, splitting his time between catcher and DH, but he'll receive a day off after he went 7-for-20 with two walks, two RBI and four runs during that span. Adam Frazier will serve as Kansas City's designated hitter Friday.

    Mariners' Cal Raleigh: Goes yard twice in win

    Raleigh went 3-for-5 with two homers, four RBI and three runs scored in Thursday's win over the Angels.

    Raleigh singled in his first trip to the plate before taking Jack Kochanowicz deep for a leadoff homer to open the third. The catcher would then add a second home run in the sixth to extend the Mariners' lead to 11 runs, giving him his second two-homer performance in his last three contests. Raleigh has also tallied multiple hits in five of his last seven games, batting .400 (10-for-25) over that stretch with four homers, eight RBI and seven runs scored.
