Eric Haase C | MIL
Brewers' Eric Haase: Picking up rare start
Haase will start at catcher and bat ninth in Wednesday's game against Atlanta.
Though top backstop William Contreras remains in the lineup Wednesday, he's serving as the Brewers' designated hitter, which opens a starting role up for Haase in the series finale. Haase will be making his first start since June 4 and just his second since May 27, as Contreras continues to shoulder one of the heavier workloads among all catchers in the big leagues.

Joey Bart C | PIT
Pirates' Joey Bart: Ready for rehab assignment
Bart (concussion) is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Indianapolis on Wednesday.
Bart resumed on-field activities a week ago but remained in the concussion protocol, but his assignment to Indianapolis implies that he's no longer dealing with any lingering symptoms of the head injury he suffered May 28. The 28-year-old will likely need at least a couple games in the minors to get his timing back at the plate, but he could be ready to return from the injured list at some point this weekend.

Tyler Stephenson C | CIN
Reds' Tyler Stephenson: Resting up for day game
Stephenson is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Guardians.
Stephenson will get some rest for Wednesday's matinee after he started at catcher in both of the first two games of the series in Cleveland. Jose Trevino will spell Stephenson behind the plate in the finale.

Gabriel Moreno C | ARI
Diamondbacks' Gabriel Moreno: Pops homer in return
Moreno (hand) went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Tuesday's 10-3 win over the Mariners.
Moreno missed three games after he suffered an injury to his right hand last Friday. He played the full game Tuesday, so he looks good to resume his status as the Diamondbacks' top catcher. His homer Tuesday was his first since May 23 versus the Cardinals, though he has been steady at the plate with just two hitless efforts in his last 16 games. Moreno is at a .277/.333/.428 slash line with five homers, 20 RBI, 28 runs scored and one stolen base across 51 contests.

Martin Maldonado C | SD
Padres' Martin Maldonado: Goes yard in blowout win
Maldonado went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a walk and a second run scored in Tuesday's 11-1 win over the Dodgers.
Maldonado has two multi-hit efforts over his last three games, but he's gone just 5-for-32 (.156) in 15 contests dating back to May 13. The catcher continues to alternate starts with Elias Diaz this month. Maldonado has never been particularly gifted as a hitter, and he's at a .189/.223/.311 slash line with three homers, six RBI and five runs scored over 97 plate appearances this season.

Patrick Bailey C | SF
Giants' Patrick Bailey: Battling neck spasms
Bailey was scratched from the lineup ahead of Tuesday's game against the Rockies due to neck spasms, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
While Bailey takes a day off to recover, Andrew Knizner will start behind the plate and could continue to do so if Bailey needs to miss any additional games.
-
Will Smith C | LAD
Dodgers' Will Smith: Idle Tuesday
Smith is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game in San Diego.
Smith is on the bench for the a third time in a seven-game span. The catcher played in three consecutive games between Saturday and Monday in which he went 3-for-13 with a home run. As Smith rests Tuesday, Dalton Rushing steps in behind the plate, batting ninth.
-
Gabriel Moreno C | ARI
Diamondbacks' Gabriel Moreno: Back in action Tuesday
Moreno (hand) is starting behind the plate and batting eighth Tuesday against the Mariners.
Moreno sat out the previous three games after being struck in the right hand by a wild pitch Friday, but he's ready to rejoin the lineup Tuesday. The 25-year-old has been on a tear at the plate in his past 15 games, as he has a .358/.393/.660 slash line with five doubles, a triple, three homers, eight RBI and 11 runs during that span.

Reese McGuire C | CHC
Cubs' Reese McGuire: Enters lineup Tuesday
McGuire is starting at catcher and batting ninth in Tuesday's game against the Phillies.
With regular starter Carson Kelly mired in a 2-for-30 slump, McGuire will get a chance to start behind the plate Tuesday and face Philadelphia righty Mick Abel. McGuire is unlikely to unseat the struggling Kelly entirely, though manager Craig Counsell may look to lighten Kelly's load a bit more in an effort to get his bat hot again. Miguel Amaya (oblique) is also eyeing an early-July return from the injured list and could jump into the No. 1 catcher role when he's healthy.
