  • Braves' William Contreras: Takes seat Wednesday

Contreras is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Nationals.

Contreras gets a breather after catching each of Atlanta's last seven games, during which he went 4-for-24 with a home run. Kevan Smith will get the nod behind the plate, forming a battery with Drew Smyly.

  • Cubs' Willson Contreras: Not starting Wednesday

Contreras isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Padres.

Contreras went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run, a double and a strikeout in Tuesday's win over San Diego. P.J. Higgins will start at catcher and bat eighth.

  • Padres' Victor Caratini: Gets breather Wednesday

Caratini isn't in the lineup Wednesday against the Cubs.

Caratini will get a breather after he blasted a solo home run in Tuesday's loss to the Cubs. Webster Rivas will start behind the dish and bat eighth.

  • Mets' Francisco Alvarez: Slugs first homer at High-A

Alvarez went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run for High-A Brooklyn on Tuesday.

The Mets' No. 3 fantasy prospect got promoted from Low-A late last week, and after going 2-for-12 in his first four games at the new level, Alvarez connected on his first homer for the Cyclones and his third in 20 games on the season. The Mets may be reluctant to advance the 19-year-old up the ladder any further this year no matter how well he does for Brooklyn, but he continues to solidify his spot at the team's catcher of the future.

  • Pirates' Michael Perez: Collects two hits Tuesday

Perez went 2-for-4 with an RBI double in Tuesday's 10-5 loss to the Royals.

He's 5-for-15 with two homers in his last four starts since May 22. Jacob Stallings remains the starter, but Perez has performed well at the plate since starting slowly. For the season, Perez is slashing just .145/.221/.323 in 68 plate appearances.

  • Reds' Tucker Barnhart: Receives Wednesday off

Barnhart is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Phillies.

The Reds are just extending Barnhart a breather for the day game after a night game. Tyler Stephenson checks in behind the dish for Barnhart, who went hitless in four at-bats during Tuesday's 17-3 loss.

  • Padres' Victor Caratini: Goes deep in loss

Caratini went 1-for-4 with a solo home run during Tuesday's loss to the Cubs.

His fifth-inning shot against Kyle Hendricks got the Padres on the board. Caratini, who has tallied four long balls across 40 games this season, is expected to see an uptick in playing time with Austin Nola (knee) on the 10-day injured list.

  • Cubs' Willson Contreras: Doubles, homers in win

Contreras went 2-for-4 with a double and a two-run home run in Tuesday's win over the Padres.

Contreras led off in this one and provided a much-needed offensive boost in the 4-3 win. The veteran catcher now has nine home runs and 24 RBI through 49 games, and he should continue to be a reliable fantasy backstop the rest of the way.

  • James McCann C | ARI

Mets' James McCann: Out of Tuesday's lineup

McCann is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Diamondbacks, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.

McCann went 0-for-5 with a pair of strikeouts during the first game of the series Monday and will head to the bench Tuesday. Tomas Nido will work behind the plate for the Mets.

  • Giants' Chadwick Tromp: Joining big-league club

Tromp was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

The 26-year-old spent one day on the major-league roster in April but was demoted without appearing in a game. Tromp will serve as Buster Posey's backup while Curt Casali (wrist) remains on the injured list.
