Smith went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and an additional RBI in an 8-4 win against the Diamondbacks on Tuesday.
Batting in the six hole, Smith took Diamondbacks reliever Jake Faria deep to left-center in the sixth inning and tacked on a sacrifice fly in the seventh. The solid outing continues a strong September for the young backstop, who's slashing .320/.417/.536 in nine games this month.

Nido (thumb) will be reinstated from the 10-day injured list by the Mets on Tuesday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
Nido suffered a sprained thumb in late August and recently went 3-for-7 with two RBI and a run across two rehab games. The 27-year-old will mainly serve as a backup to James McCann, but he's starting at catcher and batting eighth in Tuesday's game against the Cardinals, Deesha Thosar of the New York Daily News reports.

Phillies' J.T. Realmuto: Dealing with shoulder inflammation
Realmuto isn't starting Tuesday's game against the Cubs due to right shoulder inflammation, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.
Realmuto dealt with a shoulder injury in late August, and the issue has flared up recently. However, manager Joe Girardi said the catcher received an injection after Sunday's game, and the team is hopeful that he'll be able to start against the Cubs on Wednesday.

Realmuto bounced back from a 1-for-15 skid at the plate during Sunday's loss to the Rockies, going 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI, a stolen base and two runs scored. He'll get a day off to start the series against Chicago as Andrew Knapp slots in behind the plate and bats eighth.

With Clayton Kershaw returning from a forearm injury Monday, expect Smith's off days to follow a consistent pattern going forward. Kershaw has thrown to personal catcher Austin Barnes in 16 of his 18 starts so far this season and will do so again this time around.

Nido (thumb) rejoined his teammates Monday but won't be activated until Tuesday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
Nido is nearly ready to return from the thumb sprained which has sidelined him for all of September, but he evidently needs one more day before he's ready to go. He'll serve as James McCann's backup behind the plate down the stretch.

Ruiz (head) is starting Monday's game against the Marlins, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports.
Ruiz missed Sunday's game against the Pirates after he was hit in the helmet by a pitch Saturday, but he avoided a concussion. The 23-year-old is participating in pregame drills and will be back in action following his brief absence.

Realmuto went 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI, a stolen base and two runs scored in Sunday's 5-4 loss to Colorado.
The 30-year-old was the only Philadelphia batter to record multiple hits in the contest. The strong game snapped a 1-for-15 slump at the plate for the catcher. Realmuto has provided solid all-around production this year with a .262/.349/.434 slash line, 14 home runs, 60 RBI, 57 runs scored, 10 stolen bases and 23 doubles through 470 plate appearances.
