  • James McCann C | ARI

Mets' James McCann: Sitting Game 2

McCann is out of the lineup for Game 2 of Sunday's doubleheader against the Phillies, Deesha Thosar of the New York Daily News reports.

McCann went 0-for-2 during the 3-2 loss in Game 1, and it's not a surprise he won't be starting both ends of the twin bill. Tomas Nido will start behind the plate and bat ninth in the nightcap.

  • Phillies' J.T. Realmuto: Resting for nightcap

Realmuto is out of the lineup for the second game of Sunday's doubleheader with the Mets, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.

Realmuto went 1-for-4 with two strikeouts while catching all nine innings of the Phillies' 3-2 win over the Mets in the afternoon game. He'll get some rest for the nightcap, paving the way for Garrett Stubbs to pick up a start behind the dish.

  • Marlins' Jacob Stallings: Out of Sunday's lineup

Stallings is not in the lineup for Sunday's game at San Diego, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Stallings started the past two games and will head to the bench for the series finale Sunday afternoon. Payton Henry will start at catcher in his place.

  • Keibert Ruiz C | WAS

Nationals' Keibert Ruiz: Receives breather Sunday

Ruiz is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Angels, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Ruiz started the past three games and will sit for Sunday's day game. Riley Adams will work behind the plate in his place, forming a battery with Erick Fedde.

  • Joey Bart C | PIT

Giants' Joey Bart: Out of Sunday's lineup

Bart is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cardinals, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Bart started the past two games and will take a seat for Sunday's series finale. He went 3-for-4 against the Nationals on April 29 but is otherwise hitless in his past 12 games. Curt Casali will work behind the plate and bat ninth in his place.

  • Elias Diaz C | KC

Rockies' Elias Diaz: On bench Sunday

Diaz is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.

Diaz started the first two games of the series and will take a seat after going 1-for-7 with a walk and two strikeouts. Dom Nunez will start behind the plate in his place for the series finale.

  • Braves' Travis d'Arnaud: Receives breather Sunday

D'Arnaud is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against Milwaukee.

D'Arnaud started the past three games and will take a seat after going 2-for-10 with a double, two RBI, a run and five strikeouts. William Contreras will take over behind the plate and bat ninth Sunday.

  • Dodgers' Austin Barnes: Swats third homer

Barnes went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in a 7-0 win over the Cubs in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader.

He launched a solo shot off Drew Smyly in the fourth inning before wrapping up the scoring in the contest with a two-run single in the eighth. Barnes is taking full advantage of his limited opportunities behind Will Smith this season, and the 32-year-old backstop has a .972 OPS and three homers in only 25 plate appearances.

  • Cubs' Willson Contreras: Records triple, home run in loss

Contreras went 3-for-4 with a triple, a solo home run and two runs scored in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Dodgers.

Contreras was an effective leadoff hitter in Saturday's nightcap but the Cubs still fell 6-2 as they dropped both games in the doubleheader. Despite his team's struggles, the Chicago catcher is playing pretty well with an .820 OPS and three home runs across 20 games. Contreras could be a trade candidate if the Cubs continue to fall out of contention, as he's in the last year of his contract.

  • Pirates' Michael Perez: Contract selected by Pirates

Perez's contract was selected by the Pirates on Saturday.

Perez was reassigned to minor-league camp prior to the regular season, and he hit .294 with a double, three runs and two RBI over eight games at Triple-A Indianapolis to begin the year. He'll serve as depth at catcher after Roberto Perez (hamstring) was placed on the 10-day injured list.
