The lineup alteration appears to be nothing more than a simple change of plans for the Padres. Jorge Alfaro will bat eighth and start behind the plate in Nola's absence.

Bart is on the bench for the second time in the last three games after he went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts Thursday. Austin Wynns will start behind the dish and bat eighth.

Heineman (concussion) was placed on the 7-day injured list Friday, Rob Biertempfel of The Athletic reports.
Heineman was slashing .364/.462/.455 over the past three weeks, but he will now be forced to sit out for at least a week. Ji-hwan Bae joins the active roster in his place.

Cubs' Willson Contreras: Still no timeline for return
Contreras (ankle) resumed full activities Friday but there is still no return date in mind for him, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Contreras has been held out of action since the end of August due to issues with his left ankle. It sounds like he's beginning to feel better, but with the end of the season fast approaching and the Cubs sitting well outside the postseason race, there doesn't seem to be much urgency to rush the star catcher back into the lineup.

Cubs' Yan Gomes: Sitting Friday
Gomes is not in the starting lineup for Friday's contest versus the Pirates.
Gomes will get a day off after he went 3-for-16 with a homer and three RBI while starting the last four games. P.J. Higgins will draw the start at catcher and bat seventh against Pittsburgh.
