Kirk (hip) will need to appear in a few more rehab games before he's cleared to return from the injured list, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Kirk has appeared in two rehab games with Triple-A Buffalo, going 2-for-5 with a double, two runs, two RBI and three walks. The Blue Jays aren't in need of immediate help at catcher after Danny Jansen (hamstring) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Saturday, so Kirk will have several more games to work in the minors before he rejoins the big-league club.

Adams was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo on Saturday.

Adams served in a depth role with the major-league club for just under a month and hit .107 with two doubles and two runs across 12 games. He should get more consistent playing time in the minors, and his demotion will make room on the 26-man roster for Danny Jansen (hamstring), who was reinstated from the injured list Saturday.

Jansen (hamstring) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Saturday.

Jansen spent nearly a month on the 10-day injured list due to a right hamstring strain, but he appeared in two rehab games with Triple-A Buffalo. He went 2-for-6 with two runs, two walks and a strikeout during his rehab stint and will be available for the Blue Jays going forward. He isn't starting Saturday's game against the Rays, but Jansen should see a fairly even split of the playing time with Reese McGuire behind the dish in the immediate future.

Perez went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and a second run scored in Friday's 7-4 win over the Twins.

He took J.A. Happ deep in the second inning to get the Royals on the board. Perez is catching fire again at the plate, going 8-for-17 over his last four games with two homers, and he's already reached the 20-homer plateau for the fifth time in his career.

Grandal (calf) won't play Saturday against the Tigers, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.

Manager Tony La Russa is hopeful that Grandal's injury isn't serious, but the 32-year-old should have at least one day to recover. He's considered day-to-day for now and will be evaluated again Saturday to determine his status going forward. La Russa isn't yet sure whether the team will call someone up to serve as a backup catcher in Grandal's absence, but Seby Zavala could be a candidate to join the major-league roster.

Grandal went 1-for-2 with a run, an RBI and a strikeout to begin Friday's contest, but he was replaced by Zack Collins behind the plate in the bottom of the fifth inning. The 32-year-old will be further evaluated to determine the extent of his injury.

Plawecki (hamstring) could be reinstated from the injured list by the end of the team's current road trip, which runs through Wednesday, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

Plawecki has been on the injured list since June 22 due to a left hamstring strain, and he was initially progressing slowly in his recovery. It's not yet clear whether the 30-year-old will require any rehab games before he's activated, but he's been feeling better recently and could be back in action in the coming days.

Jeffers is not in the starting lineup Friday against the Royals.

Jeffers will take a seat for the second time in three games after recording just one hit in his last 12 at-bats. Ben Rortvedt will catch J.A. Happ and bat eighth.

Cleveland manager Terry Francona said Perez (finger) will resume his rehab assignment at Triple-A Columbus on Friday, Tom Withers of the Associated Press reports.

Perez, who has been on the shelf since early May after undergoing surgery to repair a fractured finger on his left hand, has thus far appeared in six games during his rehab assignment, going 2-for-12 with a 3:4 BB:K. He was removed in his rehab game Wednesday after bruising his hand, but follow-up examinations revealed nothing concerning. After getting Thursday off to rest, Perez is expected to be ready to catch for Columbus on Friday in what should be his final rehab appearance. If Perez comes out of Friday's game fine, Cleveland could activate him as soon as Saturday.

Murphy isn't starting Thursday against the Rangers, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Murphy went 1-for-6 with an RBI and two strikeouts across the last two games, and he'll retreat to the bench for the second time in the last four contests. Aramis Garcia will start behind the plate and bat ninth.
