White Sox's Yasmani Grandal: Set to return Wednesday
Manager Tony La Russa said Grandal (knee) is expected to be reinstated from the 10-day injured list Wednesday, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.
The 33-year-old reported to Triple-A Charlotte on Friday and will rejoin the White Sox after going 5-for-11 with two walks, a home run, a double and four RBI in three rehab games. With Eloy Jimenez mostly being limited to designated-hitter duties, Grandal is likely to see most of his time behind the plate rather than splitting time between catcher and designated hitter.

Maldonado is on the bench for Tuesday's game against the Rangers, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Maldonado takes a seat while Christian Vazquez fills in behind the plate. Maldonado has been a non-factor offensively in his last 10 games, going 3-for-29 with no RBI and 10 strikeouts.

McGuire has been on the bench for stretches of two and three straight contests over the past couple weeks, but he'll be picking up his third consecutive turn behind the dish Tuesday. The playing-time situation at catcher remains a difficult one to predict, but McGuire looks to have the edge over Kevin Plawecki at the moment.

Haase isn't starting Tuesday's game against the Mariners.
Haase went 1-for-4 with a pair of runs Sunday and is hitting .250 over his last seven games. Tucker Barnhart will catch and bat eighth Tuesday.

Diaz will have his contract selected from Triple-A Sugar Land when rosters expand Sept. 1, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
Diaz will need to wait a few more days before officially receiving his first chance in the big leagues. He will not only add depth behind the dish down the stretch, but he also has experience at first base and the corner-outfield spots. The 23-year-old began his 2022 campaign in Double-A before getting promoted to Triple-A on June 21, where he's slashed .294/.342/.587 with 16 home runs, 48 RBI, one stolen base and 38 runs scored over 48 games.

Twins' Ryan Jeffers: Starting baseball activities
Jeffers (thumb) will head to Florida to begin baseball activities, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.
Jeffers continues to set his sights on a return during the team's final homestand of the 2022 regular season, which runs from Sept. 27 to Sept. 29 against the White Sox. His progress over the next few weeks will likely dictate whether he can meet this goal. Jeffers has been on the 10-day IL since undergoing surgery to repair an avulsion fracture of his right thumb July 20.
