Haase will start in left field Friday against the Giants and bat fifth.

Correcting an earlier report, Haase will replace Akil Baddoo in left field with lefty Sean Manaea on the mound for San Francisco, while Jake Rogers is behind the plate. Haase is off to a slow start to the year, batting just .138 through his first eight games.

Haase isn't in the Tigers' lineup Friday against San Francisco.

A slow start at the plate has now caused Haase to miss three starts in Detroit's last four games. Jake Rogers, who has performed much better to start the season, will take over behind the dish Friday and bat ninth.

Bemboom cleared waivers Thursday and accepted an assignment to Triple-A Norfolk, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Bemboom passed through waivers unclaimed after being designated for assignment by the Orioles. The 33-year-old catcher owns a career .158/.233/.262 batting line in 206 plate appearances at the major-league level.

Rutschman went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Thursday's 8-7 victory over the Athletics.

Rutschman, leading off in the ninth inning against Trevor May, blasted a 405-foot home run to center field, giving Baltimore an 8-7 win. The homer was Rutschman's fourth of the season and extended his hitting streak to seven games. The young catcher is off to a torrid start in his sophomore campaign, slashing .373/.467/.627 with nine runs and nine RBIs through 51 at-bats.

Trevino (toe) is expected to return to the Yankees' starting lineup Friday, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

Trevino is sitting out a second straight game Thursday against the Twins after taking a foul ball off his toe earlier this week, but manager Aaron Boone said it's all precautionary. Kyle Higashioka will catch Jhony Brito on Thursday night.

Perez went 3-for-4 with an RBI single and a solo home run in a win over the Orioles on Wednesday.

The veteran backstop launched a 396-foot shot to left field in the fifth inning to extend the Athletics' lead to 4-2 at the time, and he followed with a timely knock to plate Nick Allen in the eighth. Perez is receiving sparse opportunities thus far behind Shea Langeliers, but he's hit safely in each of the three games in which he's registered at least one plate appearance.

Bemboom was designated for assignment by the Orioles on Thursday.

Baltimore kept three catchers around for a few days after James McCann returned from the injured list last weekend, but the team will now go back to the traditional two-catcher alignment. Bemboom will go through the waiver process, with the O's likely hoping he clears so he can stay around as depth at Triple-A Norfolk.

Bethancourt went 2-for-3 with a walk, a double and two runs scored Wednesday against the Red Sox.

Bethancourt has begun the season in an even split for playing time with Francisco Mejia behind the plate. He started his seventh game Wednesday and tallied his first multi-hit game of the campaign. Despite the step forward, Bethancourt has otherwise gotten off to a slow start with the bat and now has only four knocks across 22 at-bats with one homer, one RBI and six runs scored.

Heim is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Royals.

Sandy Leon will get a turn behind the plate while Heim sits out in what's presumably a maintenance day. Heim slugged his first two home runs of the season in the first two games of the series with Kansas City, including a walkoff three-run blast in Tuesday's 8-5 win in 10 innings.

Kirk is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Tigers, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Danny Jansen will get a turn behind the plate while Kirk sits after starting at catcher in three of the Blue Jays' previous four games. Kirk is getting on base at a strong .344 clip so far this season, but aside from a respectable RBI total of six, he isn't providing much else in terms of fantasy numbers (.222 average, one home run, two runs, no stolen bases).
