  • Twins' Christian Vazquez: On bench Tuesday

Vazquez is out of the lineup Tuesday versus the Red Sox.

Vazquez slugged a three-run homer and drew a walk in Monday's series opener against his former team, but Ryan Jeffers will take a turn behind the plate and bat eighth for the Twins on Tuesday.

  • Mitch Garver C | SEA

Rangers' Mitch Garver: Gets breather Tuesday

Garver is not in the starting lineup Tuesday versus the White Sox.

Garver will get a breather after he went 1-for-4 with an RBI and a strikeout in Monday's victory. Ezequiel Duran will slot in at designated hitter while Travis Jankowski enters the lineup in left field and bats eighth against Chicago.

  • Rays' Christian Bethancourt: Sitting Tuesday

Bethancourt isn't in the Rays' lineup Tuesday against Baltimore, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Despite recording four hits in his last three games, Bethancourt continues to alternate starts with Francisco Mejia, who will get the nod behind the plate Tuesday and bat ninth.

  • Bo Naylor C | CLE

Guardians' Bo Naylor: Batting ninth Tuesday

Naylor is starting at catcher and batting ninth Tuesday against the Athletics.

Naylor batted eighth Sunday in his first start with the Guardians this season and has moved down one spot for Tuesday's tilt. He will be looking for his first major-league hit.

  • Orioles' Anthony Bemboom: Added to roster

The Orioles selected Bemboom's contract from Triple-A Norfolk on Tuesday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Bemboom was up briefly with the O's earlier this season, reaching base once in three plate appearances. He'll operate as Adley Rutschman's backup while James McCann (ankle) is out.

  • Jose Godoy C | TEX

Orioles' Jose Godoy: Optioned to Triple-A

Godoy was optioned to Triple-A Norfolk on Tuesday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Godoy was up with the big club as their backup catcher for a couple days, but the Orioles have elected to swap him out with Anthony Bemboom. The 28-year-old will head back to Norfolk to join the affiliate's catching corps.

  • Twins' Christian Vazquez: Belts first homer

Vazquez went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run and a walk Monday in a loss to the Red Sox.

Vazquez accounted for all of Minnesota's runs in the contest with his three-run shot in the fifth inning. It was the first long ball in what has been a poor offensive campaign for the backstop, as he's posted a .224/.299/.286 slash line over 164 plate appearances. Vazquez went deep 23 times for Boston in in 2019 but hasn't exceeded double-digit homers in any of his other eight major-league campaigns.

  • Blue Jays' Tyler Heineman: Back with big club

The Blue Jays recalled Heineman from Triple-A Buffalo on Monday.

He'll provide the Blue Jays with an extra body at catcher behind No. 1 backstop Danny Jansen after Alejandro Kirk (hand) was placed on the 10-day injured list Monday. Jansen should handle the bulk of the work behind the dish while Kirk is on the shelf, so Heineman may be in store for just a couple starts per week during his upcoming stint in the big leagues.

  • Blue Jays' Alejandro Kirk: Heads to IL

The Blue Jays placed Kirk (hand) on the 10-day injured list Monday.

Kirk sustained a laceration in addition to some bruising to his left hand after being hit by a pitch in Sunday's 11-7 loss to the Rangers, and the Blue Jays evidently determined that his injury wasn't something he would fully recover from in just a couple of days. As a result, Kirk will hit the shelf for what could be a minimum-length stay, provided he doesn't experience any setbacks once he resumes baseball activities. Toronto called up Tyler Heineman from Triple-A Buffalo to provide depth behind top backstop Danny Jansen.

  • Blue Jays' Alejandro Kirk: Sidelined Monday

Kirk (hand) is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Marlins.

Kirk was fortunate to avoid a fracture when his left hand was hit by a pitch in Sunday's 11-7 loss to the Rangers, but he sustained a cut and a bruise and will get at least one day off to recover. Danny Jansen draws the starting nod behind the plate in Monday's series opener in Miami, while rookie Spencer Horwitz serves as Toronto's designated hitter.
