Rogers went 1-for-1 with two walks and a solo home run in Thursday's 4-1 win over the Athletics.

With Dillon Dingler getting the night off a day after taking a foul ball off his right thumb, Rogers stepped into the starting lineup and went deep for the second straight game. X-rays came back negative on Dingler's thumb, so he may be able to return soon, but the Tigers also only have three more games before the All-Star break and may play it safe with their starting catcher. If that's the case, Rogers should get a few more chances to shine before returning to a backup role in the second half.

Dingler (thumb) is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Athletics.

Dingler had to exit Wednesday's game after a foul tip caught him in the right thumb. X-rays came back clean, and Dingler said Thursday that he's feeling "10 times better" a day after the injury, per Logan Reever of Detroit SportsNet. Dingler will avoid the 10-day injured list and is considered day-to-day as he waits for the swelling in his thumb to subside. Jake Rogers is catching for the Tigers on Thursday, and Eduardo Valencia has been called up for depth behind the plate.

Diaz isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Angels.

Diaz will retreat to the bench Thursday after going 2-for-7 with a pair of strikeouts through the first two games of the series. Kyle Higashioka will replace him as the Rangers' backstop and bat seventh.

Teel is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Red Sox.

The White Sox will give Teel the afternoon off after he started behind the plate in each of the team's last three games. Drew Romo will handle catching duties in the series finale.

Narvaez is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the White Sox.

Narvaez will be given a break for the day game after he caught all nine innings and went 1-for-3 with an RBI during the Red Sox's 5-0 win Wednesday night. Connor Wong will check in for Narvaez behind the dish and will bat ninth.

Caratini is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Guardians.

Caratini will receive the afternoon off after starting behind the plate in each of the Twins' last three games. Alex Jackson will handle catching duties for Minnesota in the series finale.

Jensen is absent from the lineup for Thursday's game against the Mets.

The left-handed-hitting Jensen started at catcher each of the last two days, so he'll get some rest during Thursday's matinee as the Mets send southpaw Sean Manaea to the bump. Luke Maile is doing the catching and Salvador Perez will play first base for the Royals.

Higashioka went 1-for-1 with a solo home run as a pinch hitter in Wednesday's 13-1 loss to the Angels.

Higashioka popped the homer in the eighth inning to get the Rangers on the board. He stayed in the game as the pitcher, allowing two runs on two hits and a hit batsman in mop-up duty during the blowout loss. Higashioka has gone 8-for-37 with two homers and a 5:9 BB:K over his last 14 contests, but he's in the backup role behind Elias Diaz while Danny Jansen (forearm) remains out. On the year, Higashioka is batting .223 with a .672 OPS, six homers, 16 RBI, 18 runs scored and three doubles over 166 plate appearances.

The veteran catcher entered the game in the second inning after Dillon Dingler took a foul ball off his right thumb. Rogers responded with just his second home run of the season and first since June 3. X-rays came back negative on Dingler, so it appears that the All-Star avoided a more serious injury, though it wouldn't be surprising to see Rogers pick up a start or two in order to give Dingler some time to recuperate.

Dingler was pulled from the game after taking a foul tip off his thumb in the first inning. The Tigers will run a few more tests on him Thursday just to be sure, but it seems as though he escaped the incident without a serious injury. If he needs to miss any extra time, Jake Rogers would be the next man up to start behind the dish.
