Kyle McCann C | COL
Athletics' Kyle McCann: Draws rare start Thursday
McCann went 1-for-5 in a loss to the Reds on Thursday.
Shea Langeliers got a rare day off Thursday, affording McCann his first start since Aug. 21. The rookie backstop collected his first hit since July 28, but he also struck out three times. McCann has a .254/.338/.390 slash line across 133 plate appearances this season.

Brian Serven C | ATH
Blue Jays' Brian Serven: Two doubles Thursday
Serven went 2-for-4 with two doubles and a run scored in Thursday's win over the Red Sox.
The backstop scored what proved to be the game-winning run in the third inning as he guided Bowden Francis and the bullpen to a 2-0 victory. Serven is emerging as Francis' personal catcher, working with him in each of the right-hander's last three starts, and it's hard to argue with the results -- Francis has a 0.41 ERA, 0.36 WHIP and 24:3 K:BB over 22 innings in those outings. Serven's been adding a little offense as well, batting .280 (7-for-25) in August with three doubles, three RBI and three runs over 10 games.

Athletics' Shea Langeliers: Not in Thursday's lineup
Langeliers isn't in the Athletics' lineup for Thursday's game against the Reds.
After going 2-for-4 with a run scored in Wednesday's win, Langeliers will take a seat during Thursday's series finale. Kyle McCann will take over as Oakland's catcher and bat seventh.

Shea Langeliers C | ATH
Athletics' Shea Langeliers: Multi-hit effort in win
Langeliers went 2-for-4 with a double and a run in a win over the Reds on Wednesday.
The struggling backstop snapped out of a 1-for-20 slump that had encompassed his previous five games with his first multi-hit effort since Aug. 15. Langeliers' two-bagger was also his first extra-base hit since that same contest, and despite Wednesday's success, the 26-year-old holds just a .182 average and .507 OPS across the 12 games he's played since putting together back-to-back four-hit efforts on Aug. 10 and Aug. 13.

Logan O'Hoppe C | LAA
Angels' Logan O'Hoppe: Getting afternoon off
O'Hoppe is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Tigers, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
O'Hoppe had started behind the plate in each of the past five contests, so he'll be given a breather Thursday as the Angels and Tigers wrap up their series with an afternoon game. Matt Thaiss will step in at catcher, forming a battery with right-hander Jack Kochanowicz.
