Eduardo Escobar 3B | TOR
Mets' Eduardo Escobar: Sitting Wednesday
Escobar will take a seat Wednesday versus the Brewers.
Escobar will be on the bench for the second time in three games Wednesday after he went 1-for-4 in Tuesday's loss. Luis Guillorme will replace him at third base and bat ninth in the series finale with Milwaukee.

Matt Chapman 3B | SF
Blue Jays' Matt Chapman: Stays hot Tuesday
Chapman went 3-for-4 with a double, a run scored and an RBI in Tuesday's win over the Royals.
What a start to the season for the veteran third baseman. Chapman has banged out multiple hits in four of the first five games, batting .579 (11-for-19) with five doubles, three RBI and four runs scored. He's still looking for his first homer, but given how locked in he is at the plate, it seems only a matter of time before he puts one over the fence.

Jake Burger 1B | TEX
White Sox's Jake Burger: Back in big leagues
The White Sox recalled Burger from Triple-A Charlotte on Wednesday.
Burger narrowly missed out on a spot on Chicago's Opening Day roster, but he'll be up with the big club just one week into the season with Eloy Jimenez (hamstring) heading to the 10-day injured list. While Jimenez is sidelined, the lefty-hitting Gavin Sheets will likely be the top candidate to step in as the White Sox's primary designated hitter, with the righty-hitting Burger representing a potential platoon mate.

Austin Riley 3B | ATL
Braves' Austin Riley: Goes yard again Tuesday
Riley went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's win over the Cardinals.
His first-inning blast off Steven Matz gave Atlanta all the offense it would need in a 4-1 win. Riley has hits in four straight games and homers in two straight, as the streaky third baseman looks to put together an early season heater.

Patrick Wisdom 3B | SEA
Cubs' Patrick Wisdom: Heads to bench
Wisdom is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Reds.
Wisdom has gotten off to a stellar start to the 2023 campaign, going 6-for-16 with two home runs, two doubles, a walk, five RBI and five runs while starting in four of the Cubs' first five games. He'll be on the bench for the second time this season while Nick Madrigal gets a turn at third base for Wednesday's matinee game, but Wisdom should hold down a near-everyday role so long as he's swinging a hot bat.
-
Matt Reynolds 3B | CIN
Reds' Matt Reynolds: Healthy at Triple-A
Reynolds (quadriceps) has gone 2-for-9 with four walks, two RBI and a run through his first three games at Triple-A Louisville this season.
Though dual quad strains suffered early in spring training kept Reynolds from making a serious run at a spot on the Reds' Opening Day roster, he was at least able to heal in time to be ready to go for the start of the minor-league season. He's appeared in three of Louisville's first four games and should occupy a near-everyday role while he remains with the Reds' top affiliate.

DJ LeMahieu 2B | NYY
Yankees' DJ LeMahieu: Pops first homer of year
LeMahieu went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the Phillies.
Getting the start at first base and hitting leadoff, LeMahieu spoiled the Phillies' combined shutout bid by taking Craig Kimbrel deep in the ninth inning. It's LeMahieu's first homer of the season, and the veteran super-utility player has already seen action at three different infield positions this season while batting .294 (5-for-17) through four games with a double, a triple, two RBI and four runs scored.
-
Kevin Newman 3B | LAA
Reds' Kevin Newman: Sitting out day game
Newman is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cubs.
Newman will take a seat for the day game after a night game, allowing Jose Barrero (hamstring) to get a turn at shortstop. While starting in each of the previous four contests, Newman went 3-for-15 with a home run and four RBI.
-
Matt Duffy 3B | TEX
Royals' Matt Duffy: Three hits in loss
Duffy went 3-for-3 in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the Blue Jays.
Individually, this was an encouraging game from Duffy, but the hitters behind him in the order went a combined 0-for-11 with one walk. Through two games, Duffy is 5-for-7 with a home run, two RBI and one strikeout. He's been one of the Royals' few bright spots, so there's a case to be made for him challenging for more regular playing time -- at least against southpaws.

Jason Vosler 3B | SEA
Reds' Jason Vosler: Homers in third straight
Vosler went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's loss against the Cubs.
Make it three consecutive games with a homer for Vosler, who had four long balls all of last season (a career high). He also had a triple in the opener, so Vosler is slugging a cool 1.113 in the early going. The 29-year-old is doing his best Brandon Drury impression and the Reds figure to ride with Vosler's hot bat in the starting lineup for the time being, at least against right-handed pitching.
