Senzel went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Saturday's 15-6 loss to St. Louis.

Per usual, Senzel got the start with a left-hander on the bump for the Cardinals. His fifth-inning home run meant little to the Reds, who were down 11-2 after the blast and were eliminated from the playoff chase with the loss. The home run was his career-high 13th. At 29-years-old, the once-promising prospect fell behind a class of younger talent that emerged in 2023. Senzel, who was shopped at the trade deadline, per Gordon Wittenmyer of the Cincinnati Enquirer, enters an awkward offseason as an obvious trade candidate. He'll also be a third-year arbitration eligible player, which means other teams could hold off on trading for him, hoping to get him at a lesser price as a free agent if the Reds non-tender him.

Gelof went 3-for-5 with a solo home run, three total RBI and two runs scored in Saturday's 7-3 win over the Angels.

Gelof popped a solo shot in the first inning and then contributed RBI singles in the eighth and ninth to help the Athletics pull off a comeback win. The second baseman had gone just 5-for-29 over his previous eight games before Saturday's three-hit effort. He's up to 14 homers, 32 RBI, 40 runs scored, 14 stolen bases and a .272/.342/.513 slash line over 68 contests this season.

Marte went 4-for-5 with a double, a home run, two runs scored and three RBI in Saturday's 15-6 loss to the Cardinals.

The 21-year-old is having a fantastic finish to the season, hitting safely in seven straight games and batting .355 (11-for-31) over that stretch with two of his three homers since his mid-August promotion to the majors. Marte is expected to be a key part of the Reds' future, and while his spot in the lineup has been secure to close out 2023 due to the absence of Matt McLain (oblique), the team will likely have to do something to alleviate its infield roster crunch in the offseason, either by trading a player such as Jonathan India or by shifting someone like Marte to the outfield.

Peterson will be on the bench for Saturday's game against the Astros, Jody Jackson of Bally Sports Arizona reports.

Peterson's off days tend to come against southpaws, but he sits Saturday against righty Justin Verlander. Evan Longoria will get the start at the hot corner.

Vargas isn't in the Nationals' lineup Saturday against Atlanta, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Vargas will remain on the bench for the second straight game Saturday after going hitless in his last two contests. Carter Kieboom will once again start at third base and bat seventh.

Machado isn't in the Padres' lineup Saturday against the White Sox.

Despite going 11-for-22 with two homers and seven RBI over his last five games, Machado will sit down for the penultimate game of the season Saturday. Matthew Batten will start at third base, and Juan Soto will operate as the DH while Jurickson Profar starts in left field.

McMahon will be on the bench for Saturday's game against Minnesota, Luke Zahlmann of The Denver Gazette reports.

McMahon took a slight step back at the plate this season, with his strikeout rate spiking to 31.5 percent while his wRC+ dipped to 89. With the boost from Coors Field, however, that still adds up to a respectable .241/.324/.434 slash line with 23 homers. He'll hit the bench for the fourth time in seven games, with Alan Trejo starting at third base.

Urias (illness) is starting at third base and batting eighth Saturday against the Red Sox.

Urias was a late scratch from Friday's lineup after coming down with an illness, but he has seemingly recovered and will get the nod at the hot corner Saturday. The 29-year-old infielder has collected four hits over his last three games while coming across to score once.

Bohm will sit for the afternoon portion of Saturday's doubleheader against the Mets.

Expect the Phillies to give most of their regulars a rest in one of Saturday's two games, as the team will finish fourth in the National League regardless of how the weekend's games play out. Weston Wilson was recalled Saturday and will get the start at the hot corner.

The Phillies optioned Castro to the Florida Complex League on Saturday.

Since joining the Phillies at the trade deadline, Castro has slashed just .100/.156/.100 across 32 plate appearances over 14 games. His poor performance will cost him his spot on Philadelphia's bench, and the team will bring up Weston Wilson from Triple-A to replace Castro.
