  • Noelvi Marte 3B | CIN

Reds' Noelvi Marte: Two hits in return

Marte started at shortstop and went 2-for-4 with a run scored in Wednesday's 4-3 win over Detroit.

Marte returned to the starting lineup for the first time since suffering a fractured nose during warmups prior to a game last Saturday. He had resumed playing Tuesday, when he scored the winning run as a pinch runner in the extra inning. This was Marte's first start at shortstop, as Elly De La Cruz was given his first rest day since the All-Star break.

  • Ryan McMahon 3B | NYY

Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Homers, tallies three hits

McMahon went 3-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's victory over the Cubs.

McMahon singled in two of his first three at-bats before launching a solo homer off Drew Smyly in the bottom of the seventh, which extended the Rockies' lead to four runs. It marked the third baseman's fifth game this season with at least three hits while the home run was his first since Aug. 28. He's still batting just .214 in September following Wednesday's three-hit performance to go along with three RBI and five runs scored.

  • Alex Bregman 3B | CHC

Astros' Alex Bregman: Goes deep in victory

Bregman went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk against Oakland in Wednesday's 6-2 win.

Bregman followed Yordan Alvarez's three-run shot in the third inning with a solo blast of his own to give Houston a 4-0 lead. The homer was the first of September for the third baseman, and though he's hit well with a .298 batting average over 47 at-bats on the month, he's knocked in a modest four runs through 12 contests. Bregman nonetheless surpassed last season's total with his 94th RBI on Wednesday, and he needs six more down the stretch to finish with 100-plus RBI for the third time in his career.

  • Brett Baty 3B | NYM

Mets' Brett Baty: Exits with groin soreness

Baty was removed from Wednesday's game against Arizona due to left groin soreness, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Baty was taken out of the game by a trainer ahead of the seventh inning and will have imaging done Thursday in order to diagnose his injury. Until the results of his MRI come back, Baty should be considered day-to-day.

  • Padres' Manny Machado: Takes seat Wednesday

Machado is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Dodgers.

Xander Bogaerts will also get a breather as the Padres play out the string on a highly disappointing 2023 campaign. Eguy Rosario is filling in at third base for Machado on Wednesday in Los Angeles and Ha-Seong Kim is playing shortstop.

  • Max Muncy 3B | LAD

Dodgers' Max Muncy: Sitting against lefty

Muncy is not in the lineup Wednesday versus the Padres.

Enrique Hernandez will start at third base and bat fifth with left-hander Blake Snell toeing the slab for San Diego. Muncy has been on a roll lately, but he carries a .149/.268/.396 slash line in 157 plate appearances this year against southpaws.

  • DJ LeMahieu 2B | NYY

Yankees' DJ LeMahieu: On bench Wednesday

LeMahieu is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Red Sox.

The veteran infielder sat out Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader and will stick on the bench for Wednesday's contest. Jake Bauers will receive a start at first base with LeMahieu in the midst of a 1-for-16 slump.

  • Carter Kieboom 3B | CLE

Nationals' Carter Kieboom: Takes seat Wednesday

Kieboom is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Pirates.

Jake Alu will start at third base and bat eighth as Luis Garcia handles second base and hits sixth. Kieboom has slashed .182/.224/.364 in 58 plate appearances since being recalled from Triple-A Rochester on Aug. 20.

  • Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI

Cardinals' Nolan Arenado: Day off Wednesday

Arenado is out of the lineup Wednesday versus the Orioles.

Jose Fermin will start at third base and bat eighth against the O's and right-hander Kyle Gibson. This looks to be a routine day of rest for Arenado, who's sitting on 26 home runs and 89 RBI through 138 games this year.

  • Diamondbacks' Emmanuel Rivera: Back in lineup Wednesday

Rivera (shoulder) is back in the lineup Wednesday against the Mets.

Rivera sat out Tuesday after injuring his left shoulder while trying to make a catch near the stands in Monday's series opener versus New York, but it has proven to be a minor blip. He'll cover third base and bat seventh for the Diamondbacks on Wednesday at Citi Field.
