  • Brooks Lee SS | MIN

Twins' Brooks Lee: Reinstated, in lineup Sunday

Lee (bicep) was activated from the 10-day injured list and will start at shortstop while batting eighth Sunday against the Blue Jays, LaVelle E. Neal III of The Minnesota Star Tribune reports.

The 23-year-old landed on the injured list Aug. 9 due to bicep tendinitis and is ready to rejoin the Twins after a five-game rehab assignment with Triple-A St. Paul. Lee has a .253/.309/.333 slash line with two homers and three steals in his first 26 big-league games, and he should see plenty of run at shortstop until Carlos Correa recovers from his heel injury.

  • Cubs' Miles Mastrobuoni: Moves up from Triple-A

The Cubs recalled Mastrobuoni from Triple-A Iowa on Sunday.

Back up for his fourth stint of the season with the Cubs, Mastrobuoni projects to fill a utility role for the big club, much like he did on the previous three occasions. As a left-handed batter, Mastrobuoni won't have a path to a short-side platoon role, so his playing time will likely be sparse in September unless the Cubs lose one of their lineup regulars to an injury.

  • Nick Madrigal 3B | LAA

Cubs' Nick Madrigal: Recalled, goes on 60-day IL

The Cubs recalled Madrigal (hand) from Triple-A Iowa and placed him on the 60-day injured list Sunday, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.

After he was optioned to Iowa on June 2, Madrigal fractured his left hand three days later when he was hit by a pitch and was placed on the Triple-A club's injured list a day later. He hasn't played since and had continued to occupy a spot on the Cubs' 40-man roster, but Madrigal's move to the big club's 60-day IL will clear room for lefty Jordan Wicks (oblique), who will return from the 60-day IL to start Sunday's game in Washington. Madrigal is without a clear timeline to return to game action at Triple-A.

  • Reds' Santiago Espinal: On bench again Sunday

Espinal (shin) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Brewers.

The 29-year-old will be withheld from the lineup for a second straight game after he fouled a ball off his left shin during Game 2 of Friday's doubleheader. His playing time could take a hit even once healthy since Jake Fraley (knee) is back from the injured list, though Espinal's .386/.427/.578 slash line in 27 games since the All-Star break should help keep him in the lineup.

  • Jazz Chisholm 2B | NYY

Yankees' Jazz Chisholm: Collects three hits Saturday

Chisholm went 3-for-4 with a run in a loss to St. Louis on Saturday.

Chisholm had one of three multi-hit performances for New York in a losing effort. Since returning from the injured list Aug. 23, Chisholm is batting .310 and has three multi-hit efforts over eight games. Of his nine knocks during that span, four (two doubles and two homers) have gone for extra bases.

  • Reds' Santiago Espinal: Pinch hits Saturday

Espinal (shin) entered Saturday's game as a pinch hitter and went 0-for-1 in a 5-4 loss to Milwaukee.

Espinal, who sustained an injury to his left shin during Friday's game, took infield practice prior to the game and was moving around, but he was held out of the starting lineup. Reds manager David Bell told MLB.com that they're trying to keep Espinal off his feet as much as possible and suggested the infielder may be able to play Sunday.

  • Miguel Vargas 2B | CHW

White Sox's Miguel Vargas: Knocks in one

Vargas went 1-for-2 with a double, an RBI, a run scored and a walk Saturday against the Mets.

Vargas has struggled since being dealt to the White Sox, as he has collected only eight hits across 76 at-bats with one homer, four RBI and five runs scored. While poor team context deflates some of his numbers, he's also struck out at a 27.9 percent clip in that span. Despite those struggles, Vargas has remained the White Sox's primary third baseman, which should continue at least until Yoan Moncada (thigh) can return.

  • Ramon Urias 3B | STL

Orioles' Ramon Urias: Sprains ankle Saturday

Urias sprained his right ankle during Saturday's 7-5 loss to the Rockies, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Urias was seen on crutches following Saturday's contest, and he will undergo further testing Sunday, per Danielle Allentuck of TheBaltimoreBanner.com. He sustained the injury in the eighth inning, when Ezequiel Tovar slid into third base and collided with Urias' right foot. It's likely Urias will be held out of Sunday's series finale, and depending on the results of his tests, he could also miss the Orioles' upcoming home series against the White Sox.

  • Pablo Reyes RF | SD

Mets' Pablo Reyes: Set to join active roster

The Mets are expected to promote Reyes from Triple-A Syracuse on Sunday, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports.

Reyes has spent his entire Mets tenure in Triple-A since being acquired from the Red Sox in late May. With Syracuse, Reyes has slashed .285/.364/.470 with 10 stolen bases, nine home runs and 34 RBI across 230 plate appearances. He'll provide versatility in the Mets infield for the tail end of the 2024 season.

  • Ramon Urias 3B | STL

Orioles' Ramon Urias: Exits game with ankle injury

Urias left Saturday's game against the Rockies in the eighth inning due to a right ankle injury, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Urias' rolled his right ankle covering third base on an Ezequiel Tovar stolen base. Urias was briefly checked by trainers before limping off the field, and he ends his night going 0-for-2 with one run scored. Emmanuel Rivera replaced Urias at third base following the injury.
