  • Evan Longoria 3B | ARI

Giants' Evan Longoria: Clubs two-run homer

Longoria went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 6-3 loss to the Mets.

Longoria got the Giants on the board early by taking Steven Matz deep in the first inning for his 13th long ball of the season. The veteran suffered an injury scare after being drilled with a pitch in the back last Friday, but he returned to the lineup Saturday and has started four consecutive contests.

  • Yoan Moncada 3B | LAA

White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Clubs 16th home run

Moncada went 1-for-2 with a solo home run and a walk in Tuesday's loss to the visiting Twins.

Moncada hit a solo shot -- his 16th of the year -- in the seventh inning to tie the game at 2-2 before the Twins ended up taking the lead back in the ninth. Moncada ranks within the top 10 among MLB second basemen in home runs and RBI (47), but over his last 30 games he's hitting just .183 with five home runs and seven RBI. The 23-year-old leads the majors in strikeouts (177), which helps account for the poor .219 batting average and the relatively low .302 on-base percentage.

  • Eugenio Suarez DH | CIN

Reds' Eugenio Suarez: Starting at shortstop

Suarez will start at shortstop and bat cleanup Tuesday against the Brewers.

It will be Suarez's first start at shortstop since April of 2016, per Mark Sheldon of MLB.com. He had previously made two late-game appearances at the position this season, logging a total of four innings. It will be interesting to see how much shortstop Suarez plays down the stretch -- not only to see if he gains eligibility at the position, but also to get an idea as to whether this may be a regular occurrence in 2019 as the team looks to work top prospect Nick Senzel (finger) into the lineup.

  • Patrick Wisdom 3B | SEA

Cardinals' Patrick Wisdom: Sent down to Triple-A

Wisdom was optioned to Triple-A Memphis on Tuesday.

Wisdom went 4-for-12 in nine games with the Cardinals. He'll make way for new acquisition Matt Adams but could be back up in the big leagues when rosters expand in September.

  • Matt Duffy 3B | TEX

Rays' Matt Duffy: Heads to bench

Duffy is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Royals, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Duffy is hitting just .213/.304/.230 through 17 games this month, so he'll retreat to the bench in an effort to clear his head. Joey Wendle is covering third base in Duffy's stead, allowing Brandon Lowe to pick up a start at the keystone.

  • Kevin Newman 3B | LAA

Pirates' Kevin Newman: Gets start against Atlanta

Newman went 0-for-3 in his first major-league start Monday against the Braves.

Newman, who was lifted in the ninth inning for a pinch hitter, is still looking for his first hit. He filled in capably at second base for the injured Josh Harrison (hamstring), with Adeiny Hechavarria sticking at shortstop. Unless Harrison needs another stint on the disabled list, Newman will likely have to wait until September to see more consistent playing time.

  • Jean Segura 3B | CLE

Mariners' Jean Segura: Two hits in return

Segura went 2-for-5 with an RBI in a win over the Astros on Monday in his return from paternity leave.

Segura stayed hot in his return from a three-game absence, posting multiple hits for the fourth time in the last five contests. The All-Star shortstop is a blistering 12-for-24 over that stretch, pushing his season line to an impressive .315/.344/.437.

  • Dodgers' Manny Machado: In Monday's lineup

Machado (wrist) will start at shortstop and bat third against St. Louis on Monday.

Machado will not miss any additional time after getting struck on the wrist in the ninth inning of Sunday's victory. It looks like his X-rays did indeed come back clean, though the club has yet to release any details on the matter. Since joining the club, he's slashed .265/.348/.436 with four home runs and 10 RBI in 29 games.

  • Yoan Moncada 3B | LAA

White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Not in Monday's lineup

Moncada is not in the lineup for Monday's game against Minnesota, LaVelle E. Neal III of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

Moncada will sit for the second time in six games after starting for two straight months. His previous absence was due to a root canal, though there hasn't been any indication that Monday's off day is anything other than a routine one. Yolmer Sanchez will slide over to second base in his place, with Matt Davidson getting a start at third.

  • Jean Segura 3B | CLE

Mariners' Jean Segura: Returns from paternity list

Segura was reinstated from the paternity list Monday.

Segura missed the Mariners' weekend series against the Dodgers while on the list. In the week immediately preceding his absence, he recorded four multi-hit games. Matt Festa was optioned to Double-A Arkansas in a corresponding move.
