  • Padres' Manny Machado: Slugs 12th homer

Machado went 2-for-5 with a solo home run, a double and an additional run scored Friday in a loss to Kansas City.

Machado had two of San Diego's three extra-base hits in the loss, knocking a ground-rule double in the seventh inning and a solo homer in the ninth. The veteran third baseman continues to pick up the pace in the power department -- after going deep just three times in his first 48 games, Machado has homered nine times in his subsequent 27 contests. He's also been able to maintain a high batting average, as he's currently on pace for a career-best mark of .311 through 318 plate appearances.

  • Orioles' Jordan Westburg: Lifted in third inning

Westburg exited Saturday's game against the Yankees in the third inning due to left hand discomfort, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Westburg started Saturday's game at DH, drew a walk and stole second base in the first inning but was replaced by Coby Mayo for his next at-bat. For now, Westburg can be considered day-to-day, though he'll likely continue to be evaluated throughout the next 24 hours.

  • Addison Barger SS | TOR

Blue Jays' Addison Barger: Scratched with hip issue

Barger was scratched from the lineup for Saturday's game against the White Sox due to right hip discomfort, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.

Barger was initially slated to play right field and bat second Saturday, but a hip injury has forced a change of plans. He can be considered day-to-day going forward. Davis Schneider will enter the lineup and play left field while Nathan Lukes slides to right.

  • Twins' Ryan Fitzgerald: Returns from IL

Fitzgerald (ankle) was activated from the 7-day injured list at Triple-A St. Paul.

Fitzgerald was hitting just .159 with a .525 OPS in his last 12 games before the injury. He's hitting .283/.375/.462 with five home runs overall in 48 games at Triple-A.

  • Matt Shaw SS | CHC

    Cubs' Matt Shaw: Resting Saturday

Shaw isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Mariners.

Shaw will get a day to reset after going 1-for-23 over his last seven games. Vidal Brujan will fill the void at third base and bat ninth while Shaw rests.

  • Austin Riley 3B | ATL

Braves' Austin Riley: Launches homer in loss

Riley went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 6-2 loss to the Marlins.

Riley hit his 12th home run of the season, pushing him into sole possession of second place on the team. It was nice to see the pop return to the 28-year-old's bat, as Friday's homer was his first extra-base hit in nine games. However, the strikeout numbers remain most concerning with Riley, who has now struck out at least once in nine straight games and 15 times total over that stretch. His strikeout rate sits at 28.7 percent for the season.

  • Royce Lewis 3B | MIN

    Twins' Royce Lewis: Begins running

Lewis (hamstring) began running Friday but hasn't started running the bases, MLB.com reports.

He'll continue running the next few days before eventually progressing to running the bases. It's not clear at this time how long he'll be out, but at least he's making progress. Lewis suffered the injury June 13 after missing five weeks to begin the season with the same injury on his left leg.

  • Noelvi Marte 3B | CIN

Reds' Noelvi Marte: Kicks off rehab assignment

Marte (oblique) started at third base and went 2-for-3 with two RBI Friday in a rehab game in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League.

Marte played seven innings in what was his first game action since landing on the 10-day injured list in early May. He'll stick around in Arizona through the weekend before shifting his rehab assignment at Triple-A Louisville next week, according to MLB.com.

  • Eugenio Suarez 3B | CIN

Diamondbacks' Eugenio Suarez: Continues homer binge

Suarez went 4-for-6 with two home runs, three RBI and an additional run scored in Friday's 14-8 win over Colorado.

The Diamondbacks and Rockies were engaged in the kind of hitting battle that made Coors Field famous. Suarez eventually put some separation between the two clubs with home runs in consecutive at-bats in the fifth and sixth innings. He's been on a homer binge of late, going deep in consecutive games and eight times over the last 12 contests, raising his season total to 24 (fourth in MLB). This was the third time this season he's recorded multiple homers in a game, and Friday's second blast was the 300th of his career -- making him the third Venezuelan-born player to reach that milestone, after Miguel Cabrera and Andres Galarraga.

  • Eguy Rosario 3B | SD

Padres' Eguy Rosario: Out with sports hernia

Rosario was placed on the 60-day IL on Friday after having surgery for a sports hernia, per MadFriars.

It's been a rough season for Rosario, who fell short in a bid to make the Opening Day roster with the big club and was subsequently DFA'd. The versatile slugger ended up returning to the organization but posted a meager .509 OPS in 29 games with Triple-A El Paso and was then sent to San Diego's ACL team for a reset. Rosario didn't fare much better there, registering a .553 OPS across 12 contests, and he's now slated for a long absence due to the sports hernia surgery. If he returns to action this season, it won't be until at least mid-August.
