Escobar has been seen hobbling around the bases in recent games, Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic reports. He recently missed three games due to a quadriceps injury and may not be fully healthy.

Arizona manager Torey Lovullo said the team's medical staff does not believe Escobar is at risk of doing further damage to the quad. "He's protecting it, we know that," Lovullo said. "We've talked to him about getting that stride length and picking up that leg the way he normally would. I think it's just the natural progression of trust in that leg that there won't be a breakdown." Escobar, who has started seven of the last eight games, went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Friday's 11-4 loss to the Giants.

Wisdom (neck/eye) went 0-for-4 with a stolen base in Friday's 2-1 loss to Cincinnati.

Wisdom got aboard in the sixth inning on a fielder's choice and stole second, but he was left on base. The infielder had hit safely in four straight games prior to Friday. For the season, the 29-year-old owns a .283/.347/.674 slash line with 11 home runs, 19 RBI, 18 runs scored and two steals, although he rapidly cooled off after a hot start to June.

Longoria (shoulder) has been taking dry swings and playing catch recently, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Longoria resumed baseball activities in late June, and he's been able to increase his workload since then. The Giants haven't given a clear timetable for the 35-year-old's return, but manager Gabe Kapler said Friday that he hasn't ruled out a July return for the third baseman.

Ramirez was scratched from Friday's lineup against the Astros due to left elbow soreness, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.

Ramirez apparently hurt his elbow while diving for a ball Thursday, and it's not yet clear whether he could be available off the bench Friday. Ernie Clement will start at third base and bat sixth.

Moncada (hand) is not in the starting lineup Friday against the Tigers.

Moncada's absence from the lineup comes as no surprise as the club said Thursday that he's likely to miss the entire weekend series in Detroit with a bruised right hand. He'll continue to target a return to the lineup early next week for the series in Minnesota.

Wisdom (neck/eye) is in the starting lineup Friday against the Reds, batting sixth as the third baseman.

He suffered an eye contusion and also came away with a stiff neck after colliding with Tyrone Taylor during Wednesday's game against the Brewers. The issues don't appear to be too serious, as Wisdom will stay in the starting nine for the series opener in Cincinnati.

Machado went 1-for-3 with a walk, three runs and a stolen base in Thursday's loss to Cincinnati.

Though he logged only one hit in the contest, Machado scored three of San Diego's four runs. He walked and scored on a double in the fifth inning, singled and scored in the seventh, and crossed the plate again after reaching on a fielder's choice and subsequently swiping second base in the eighth. Machado is up to nine steals on the season, giving him a good chance of surpassing his career-high total of 20 established with the Orioles in 2015.

Burger will be making his major-league debut Friday against the Tigers, batting eighth and playing third base.

Burger was called up from Triple-A Charlotte earlier Friday. He'll fill in for Yoan Moncada (hand) as expected Friday and should have a solid chance of manning the hot corner throughout the weekend series. Burger slashed .322/.368/.596 with 10 homers and 46 RBI across 185 plate appearances with Charlotte.

Maton was optioned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Friday.

The young infielder spent the past week in the majors but will head back to Triple-A with Didi Gregorius (elbow) returning from the injured list. Maton has a .265/.328/.398 slash line in 45 major-league appearances this season and could rejoin the Phillies later on this season if additional infield depth is required.

Burger was called up from Triple-A Charlotte on Friday.

The 25-year-old will receive his first taste of the majors while Yoan Moncada deals with a bruised hand. Moncada hasn't been placed on the injured list but isn't expected to play this weekend, so Burger should see plenty of opportunities between third base and designated hitter since the scuffling Yermin Mercedes was sent to Triple-A. Burger has been impressive during his first Triple-A campaign this year, hitting .322/.368/.596 with 10 homers, 15 doubles, 36 RBI and 29 runs in 42 games.
