Sogard started at shortstop and went 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored in Friday's 8-6 loss to Minnesota.

Sogard made a fifth straight start and has hit safely in all five, going 6-for-17 with three walks, two RBI and a run scored. He's finding opportunities in the infield -- whether due to an injury or underperformance -- between shortstop, second base and third base. The Red Sox plan to transition Marcelo Mayer to shortstop in light of Trevor Story undergoing surgery to repair a sports hernia, which leaves Sogard as part of a rotation at second and third.

Riley went 3-for-3 with three singles, one walk and a run scored in Friday's 5-4 extra-innings win over the Nationals.

Riley walked and scored in the seventh inning and singled in all three other trips to the plate before Jorge Mateo pinch ran for him in a 2-2 game in the bottom of the ninth. Riley ended the month of April with a .190 average and .588 OPS. He has six multi-hit games and five homers in May, raising his season slash line to .221/.292/.385 with eight homers, 31 RBI, 27 runs scored, three stolen bases and a 16:59 BB:K across 216 plate appearances.

Vargas went 1-for-4 with a walk and a stolen base in Friday's 9-4 win over the Giants.

Vargas missed a start due to a minor hand injury, but he looks good to handle third base again moving forward. He had gone 0-for-7 with a walk and three strikeouts over three games in the White Sox's series in Seattle earlier in the week. Vargas is batting .237 with an .848 OPS, 11 home runs, 29 RBI, 35 runs scored and a career-high eight stolen bases over 49 contests this season.

Machado went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's 7-3 win over the Athletics.

This was Machado's second homer over the last three games as his power starts to come back a bit. He's still scuffling, having hit safely in just six of his last 12 contests and going 6-for-45 (.133) with three homers, six RBI and 14 strikeouts in that span. On the season, the third baseman is batting .179 with a .618 OPS, eight homers, 24 RBI, 26 runs scored, one stolen base and five doubles over 48 games.

X-rays on Muncy's right wrist came back negative after Friday's game against the Brewers, Jack Harris of the California Post reports.

Muncy was pulled from Friday's contest in the eighth inning after taking a pitch off his wrist. Although he avoided a fracture, manager Dave Roberts said the 35-year-old slugger is dealing with some swelling and will likely have to sit out the Dodgers' next few games. Santiago Espinal is likely to start at third base while Muncy is down, though Miguel Rojas could also be in the mix for playing time.

Muncy was removed from Friday's game against the Brewers after getting hit on the wrist by a pitch, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

Muncy was taken out of the game immediately after taking a 95.5 mph sinker off his hand/wrist in the eighth inning. He'll likely be sent in for X-rays to determine whether he suffered a fracture, and the Dodgers may have more information on his status after the game. If the 35-year-old veteran ends up needing to miss time, Santiago Espinal and Miguel Rojas would be in play to start at the hot corner.

Karros isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against Arizona.

Karros will get a day to reset Friday after going 0-for-10 with a walk and three strikeouts over his last three games. His absence will allow Chad Stevens to start at third base and bat ninth.

Vargas (hand) is starting at third base and batting third against the Giants on Friday.

Vargas was not in Wednesday's lineup against the Mariners due to a hand injury, though he ended up entering the game in the eighth inning to pinch hit and drew a walk. He is slashing .237/.367/.485 with seven steals, 11 home runs and 29 RBI across 207 plate appearances this season.

The Angels selected Walton's contract from Triple-A Salt Lake on Friday.

Both Walton and Wade Meckler are joining the Halos, with Yoan Moncada (knee) going to the 10-day injured list and Josh Lowe being sent down to Salt Lake. Walton turns 32 years old Monday and is a career .172/.223/.298 hitter with four home runs, 23 RBI and 21 runs scored across 214 big-league plate appearances. He's slashed .282/.429/.481 with seven long balls, 33 RBI, 33 runs scored, three stolen bases and a 32:21 BB:K across 168 trips to the plate at Triple-A this season. Walton is starting at third base and batting ninth Friday against the Rangers.

The Angels placed Moncada on the 10-day injured list Friday with a right knee injury, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Moncada said Thursday that he's been dealing with knee problems lately, which helps explain why he's been absent from the lineup for each of the Angels' last three games. He received an MRI on Friday, and although the team is still waiting for the results, they'll move him to the IL to ensure he has time to recover. Donovan Walton was selected to the active roster in a corresponding move and will start at third base Friday against Texas, though Vaughn Grissom could also be in the mix for reps at the hot corner until Moncada returns.
