  • Giants' Sergio Alcantara: Has contract selected

Alcantara had his contract selected by the Giants on Thursday, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Alcantara inked a minor-league deal with the Giants during the offseason and has struggled to a .206/.319/.252 line across 256 plate appearances with Triple-A Sacramento. Despite the underwhelming line, he'll get his first chance in the majors since the 2022 season.

Dodgers' Max Muncy: Out at least six weeks

Muncy (knee) said Thursday he expects to be sidelined for at least six weeks, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

Muncy injured his knee when he was slid into on a stolen base attempt Wednesday night. There was some concern he'd miss the rest of the season, but imaging revealed a bone bruise rather than ligament damage. Given that, this is relatively good news, particularly if Muncy can return near the announced timeline in mid-August. Miguel Rojas is starting at third base in Muncy's place Thursday against the White Sox and should be among the players to see a bump in playing time for the near future.

Dodgers' Max Muncy: Lands on IL

Muncy was placed on the 10-day injured list Thursday due to a bone bruise in his left knee, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Muncy injured his knee while taking a throw at third base Wednesday night and underwent an MRI on Thursday, which determined he's dealing with a bone bruise. The severity of the injury has yet to be disclosed, but he'll be out for at least the next 10 days. Miguel Rojas is starting at third base in his place against the White Sox on Thursday.

  • CJ Alexander 3B | LAD

Dodgers' CJ Alexander: Claimed by Dodgers

The Dodgers claimed Alexander from the Yankees on Thursday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Alexander joins his third organization of 2025 after starting the season with the Athletics and being designated for assignment by the Yankees on Monday. He has appeared in 54 games at the Triple-A level in 2025, slashing .239/.339/.443, and has played in six games in the majors. The third baseman joins the Dodgers after Max Muncy went down with a knee injury in Wednesday night's game. With the Dodgers claiming Alexander, they designated Steward Berroa for assignment Thursday.

  • Nicky Lopez 3B | ARI

Yankees' Nicky Lopez: Links up with Yankees on MiLB deal

The Yankees signed Lopez to a minor-league contract Thursday, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.

The Yankees have one of the worst defensive infields in baseball, so signing the light-hitting but slick-fielding Lopez as a depth addition is sensible. Lopez has gone 1-for-24 at the plate during stints this season between the Angels and Cubs and will report to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Dodgers' Max Muncy: Undergoing MRI on knee Thursday

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said after Wednesday's game versus the White Sox that Muncy will undergo an MRI on his left knee Thursday, DodgersBeat.com reports.

Muncy was injured when Michael Taylor's head collided with the third baseman's knee on a stolen-base attempt in the sixth inning. Roberts said after Muncy was evaluated by trainers that the team is "optimistic" the 34-year-old is dealing with a sprain rather than a tear, but the MRI will provide more clarity. At the very least, Roberts expects Muncy to be sidelined "for the next few days." Enrique Hernandez and Miguel Rojas will handle third base while Muncy is shelved.

  • Twins' Ryan Fitzgerald: Goes back on IL

Triple-A St. Paul placed Fitzgerald on its 7-day injured list Saturday due to a right hamstring strain.

Fitzgerald missed about two weeks of action earlier in June due to a right ankle sprain, and after returning to action June 20, the infielder lasted just five games before going down with another injury to the same leg. The 31-year-old is slashing .287/.378/.473 with six home runs and five stolen bases in 217 plate appearances for St. Paul this season.

  • Max Muncy 3B | LAD

Dodgers' Max Muncy: Exits with injury

Muncy was removed from Wednesday's game against the White Sox due to an apparent left knee injury, Alden Gonzalez of ESPN.com reports.

A stealing Michael Taylor collided with Muncy's left knee while sliding into third base, causing the latter's leg to bend awkwardly. Muncy needed to be helped off the field by a trainer after the play and will almost certainly be taken in for imaging. If the two-time All-Star ends up needing to miss any amount of time, Enrique Hernandez would likely fill in at the hot corner for the Dodgers.

  • Addison Barger SS | TOR

Blue Jays' Addison Barger: Fills stat sheet in win

Barger went 2-for-4 with a home run, a walk, four RBI and a stolen base in Wednesday's 11-9 win over the Yankees.

Barger crushed a three-run homer in the first inning and later added an insurance run with an RBI single in the ninth. The 25-year-old has hit safely in seven of his last eight games, a stretch that includes four extra-base hits, six RBI and eight runs scored. For the season, he's slashing .263/.325/.493 with 10 home runs, 30 RBI, 33 runs scored and two steals across 229 plate appearances.

  • Max Schuemann 2B | ATH

Athletics' Max Schuemann: Launches second homer of 2025

Schuemann went 3-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 6-5 loss to Tampa Bay.

It's the second time this season that Schuemann has recorded three hits in a game, which was highlighted by his solo homer off Ryan Pepiot in the second frame. Schuemann has started in just 11 games since the beginning of June, but he could see some additional playing time in the short term if Luis Urias (hamstring) and Jacob Wilson (hamstring) remain sidelined.
