  • Mike Moustakas 3B | CHW

Brewers' Mike Moustakas: Gets day off Tuesday

Moustakas is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Cardinals.

He will get his first day off since July 28. Moustakas is hitting .273/.309/.494 with four home runs in 18 games over that stretch. Hernan Perez will start at third base and hit seventh.

  • J.D. Davis 1B | LAA

Mets' J.D. Davis: In Tuesday's lineup

Davis (calf) is starting in left field and hitting sixth Tuesday against the Indians.

As expected, Davis is able to return to action for this three-game series against Cleveland. He is hitting .377/.417/.679 with four home runs and one stolen base in 53 at-bats this month.

  • Nick Senzel 3B | LAD

Reds' Nick Senzel: Back in Tuesday's lineup

Senzel (elbow) is starting in center field and hitting seventh Tuesday against the Padres.

He was scratched from Monday's lineup with a sore elbow after getting plunked in Sunday's contest, but it seems it was just a bruise, so he only misses the one game. Senzel is hitting .197 with two home runs and one steal in 17 games this month.

  • Nick Senzel 3B | LAD

Reds' Nick Senzel: Scratched with sore elbow

Senzel was scratched from Monday's lineup against the Padres with a sore left elbow.

He was hit on the elbow by a pitch in Sunday's game, and while he did not leave that contest, it's possible he was dealing with significant swelling Monday. Phillip Ervin shifts to center field, Jose Peraza shifts to left field and Freddy Galvis enters the lineup as the second baseman.

  • Eugenio Suarez DH | CIN

Reds' Eugenio Suarez: Homers in lineup return

Suarez (thumb) went 1-for-5 with a solo home run Sunday in the Reds' 5-4 loss to the Cardinals.

Suarez was sidelined for a game while tending to a sprained left thumb, but his 417-foot bomb off Cardinals ace Jack Flaherty in his first at-bat of the afternoon suggested the injury won't hinder him in the power department moving forward. He'll be back in the lineup at third base Monday in the Reds' series opener versus the Padres.

  • Mike Moustakas 3B | CHW

Brewers' Mike Moustakas: Catches fire over weekend

Moustakas went 3-for-4 with two home runs, a double, a walk and five RBI in Sunday's 16-8 loss to the Nationals.

Heading into the weekend series in Washington, Moustakas had been in the midst of one of his worst stretches of the season, as he had recorded just five hits in 34 at-bats over his prior eight contests. It's safe to say that he's now busted out of the slump after compiling seven hits -- four for extra bases -- and eight RBI in the three-game set. Now up to 30 home runs on the campaign, Moustakas has a legitimate shot at surpassing the career-high 38 he posted with the Royals in 2017.

  • Anthony Rendon 3B | LAA

Nationals' Anthony Rendon: Stays hot Sunday

Rendon went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Sunday's win over the Brewers.

The 29-year-old is putting together an impressive August, slashing .323/.353/.581 through 15 games with four long balls and 17 RBI. The surge has already given Rendon a new career high with 27 homers, and he's only three RBI short of hitting the century mark in that category for the second time.

  • Kyle Farmer 3B | ATL

Reds' Kyle Farmer: Wood's personal catcher

Farmer has caught Alex Wood's last four starts, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports. He was college teammates with Wood and the two are best friends.

Those four starts have been Farmer's only starts behind the plate in the last month. "Normally, I'm not into having one catcher for one pitcher kind of thing, but it made sense for Kyle because we wanted to make him comfortable," manager David Bell said. "He had the concussion. Just to kind of make him as comfortable as we could, just let him focus on one guy. That was the thought. We might get away from that, but for now, it's worked out."

  • J.D. Davis 1B | LAA

Mets' J.D. Davis: Expects to be available Tuesday

Davis (calf) hopes to play in Tuesday's series opener against the Indians, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Davis was pulled from Sunday's game after a pinch-hit single, and while he appeared to aggravate his right calf, he stated after the contest that he feels fine. "Coaches and athletic trainers told me if I got on base to take it easy, not provoke it or bother it," said Davis. "I didn't feel it, and that was a good sign for me." Following a scheduled off day Monday, the team will likely re-evaluate Davis on Tuesday to determine his status for New York's upcoming series with Cleveland.

  • Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI

Rockies' Nolan Arenado: Socks two homers

Arenado went 2-for-5 with two home runs and three RBI in Sunday's 7-6 win over Miami.

Arenado ripped a solo blast in the first inning before giving Colorado a late lead with his two-run shot in the eighth. After hitting just seven homers in all of June and July, the 28-year-old slugger has already launched eight in August, giving him 30 for the season.
