  • Kyle Farmer 3B | ATL

Reds' Kyle Farmer: Sitting out Sunday

Farmer is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cardinals.

Alex Blandino will take over at third base in place of Farmer, who had started seven of the last eight games at the position. Farmer's run of regular reps could soon be coming to an end, as Mike Moustakas (illness) may end up being sidelined for the minimum 10 days on injured list after he was spotted taking part in infield drills Sunday.

  • Mike Moustakas 3B | CHW

Reds' Mike Moustakas: Getting pregame work

Moustakas (illness) was taking reps at third base prior to the team's game Sunday, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Moustakas was reportedly starting to feel better as the team began its weekend series in St. Louis. Manager David Bell had noted that Moustakas could return sometime during the upcoming series against the Dodgers, which begins Monday. His increased activity suggests that remains a possibility.

  • Ryan McMahon 3B | NYY

Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Launches two-run shot

McMahon went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run Saturday against the Phillies.

McMahon blasted his team-leading seventh homer of the season off Aaron Nola in the fifth inning, and the second baseman continues to see the ball well. He's now riding a four-game hitting streak while hitting safely in seven of his last nine contests.

  • Kevin Newman 3B | LAA

Pirates' Kevin Newman: Delivers first homer

Newman went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and two RBI on Saturday against Minnesota.

Newman took Michael Pineda deep in the fifth inning, going back-to-back with Michael Perez. It was his first home run of the campaign and only his third extra-base hit overall. Newman has yet to get his bat going, hitting just .176/.208/.250 across 72 plate appearances.

  • Jason Vosler 3B | SEA

Giants' Jason Vosler: Gets call to big leagues

Vosler was recalled by the Giants on Saturday.

Vosler hit well with the club throughout spring training but failed to make the team due to its plentiful infield depth. However, regulars such as Evan Longoria (hamstring), Donovan Solano (calf) and Brandon Crawford (quadriceps) are currently sidelined, leaving the team depleted. That will give Vosler the chance to make his major-league debut, and he should draw the majority of his work at second and third base.

  • Evan Longoria 3B | ARI

Giants' Evan Longoria: Sits again Saturday

Longoria (hamstring) will sit for the second straight game Saturday against the Marlins, Mark W. Sanchez of KNBR 680 San Francisco reports.

Longoria left Thursday's season opener with a tight left hamstring and did not play a part in Friday's contest. He's considered day-to-day. Wilmer Flores remains the starter at the hot corner in his absence.

  • Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI

Cardinals' Nolan Arenado: Extends hitting streak in win

Arenado went 1-for-4 with an RBI single and a run in a win over the Reds on Friday.

Arenado's timely third-inning hit plated the Cardinals' fourth run of the day and extended the veteran third baseman's hitting streak to four games. The 30-year-old arguably already looks better early in his Cardinals tenure than during an injury-shortened 2020 in Colorado, as he's posted eight extra-base hits (four doubles, four home runs), 11 RBI and an .801 OPS through his first 81 plate appearances.

  • Nick Senzel 3B | LAD

Reds' Nick Senzel: Not in Saturday's lineup

Senzel isn't starting Saturday's game against the Cardinals, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.

Senzel will get a breather after he went 4-for-11 with a double, one walk and a strikeout over the last three games. Tyler Naquin will take over in center field Saturday, batting fifth.

  • Austin Riley 3B | ATL

Braves' Austin Riley: Launches second homer

Riley went 1-for-3 with a walk and a two-run home run in Friday's 5-4 win over the Diamondbacks.

He got Atlanta on the board by taking Luke Weaver deep in the second inning. Riley has been very streaky in his brief career and it looks like he's about to go on a tear, as he's homered in consecutive games -- his only two HR of the year so far -- while reaching base in six straight, going 6-for-13 with an extremely impressive 7:2 BB:K over that stretch.

  • Evan Longoria 3B | ARI

Giants' Evan Longoria: Not starting Friday

Longoria (hamstring) isn't starting Friday's game against the Marlins, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Longoria exited Thursday's game against Miami due to left hamstring tightness. However, manager Gabe Kapler said that Longoria could be available off the bench Friday if he feels good during the game, Pavlovic reports. Wilmer Flores will start at third base Friday, batting third.
