  • Ryan McMahon 3B | NYY

Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Slugs homer in loss

McMahon went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 9-3 loss to the Diamondbacks.

McMahon had gone just 1-for-18 over his last six games entering Friday, but the infielder went yard in the seventh inning for his seventh homer of the season. He's slashing .235/.328/.379 with 38 RBI, 30 runs scored, 13 doubles and two triples through 75 contests, and he's been caught stealing on his only two attempts this year.

  • Jason Vosler 3B | SEA

Giants' Jason Vosler: Recalled and starting Friday

Vosler was recalled by the Giants on Friday and will bat seventh and play third base against the White Sox, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

How long Vosler will remain in the majors is unclear, as he was called up to replace starting pitcher Anthony DeSclafani (ankle), so it's possible he returns to the minors when the Giants need another starter. Vosler has produced when called upon this season, however, hitting .294/.362/.569 in 17 games. He'll have a good case to stick around if he keeps hitting like that.

  • Evan Longoria 3B | ARI

    Giants' Evan Longoria: Resting Friday

Longoria will sit Friday against the White Sox, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Longoria sits after starting nine straight games, a stretch in which he hit .400/.486/.733 with three homers and more walks (six) than strikeouts (five). Jason Vosler will spell him at third base.

  • Padres' Manny Machado: Not starting Friday

Machado will sit Friday against the Dodgers, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Machado missed nine straight games with an ankle issue before returning to action Thursday, going 1-for-4 with a double and three strikeouts. The Padres seemingly don't want him starting on back-to-back days immediately after his return, so it will be Ha-Seong Kim who starts at third base Friday.

  • Mike Moustakas 3B | CHW

    Reds' Mike Moustakas: Sitting Friday

Moustakas is not in the starting lineup for Friday's series opener versus Atlanta.

Moustakas will get a day off after he went 1-for-4 with an RBI in his return to the lineup Thursday following undisclosed injury. Brandon Drury will slide into the designated hitter spot while Donovan Solano will start at third base and bat sixth against Atlanta.

  • Padres' Manny Machado: Fans three times in return

Machado went 1-for-4 with a double, a run and three strikeouts in Thursday's loss to the Dodgers.

Machado has been nursing an injured ankle, but he returned from a nine-game absence Thursday to serve as San Diego's designated hitter against his former club. The veteran looked like he didn't miss a beat in his first at-bat, smacking a double to left field and coming around to score on a Nomar Mazara single. Things went downhill from there for Machado, however, as he struck out in each of his remaining three plate appearances. It's unclear how long he'll stick at DH before the Padres decide it's safe to put him back in the field, but Machado should be deployed in all fantasy formats as long as his bat is in the lineup.

  • Patrick Wisdom 3B | SEA

Cubs' Patrick Wisdom: Drives in six runs Thursday

Wisdom went 3-for-6 with a pair of home runs, six RBI and a stolen base in Thursday's 15-7 rout of the Reds.

Wisdom had a good start to the contest, notching an RBI and a stolen base in the first inning. Things got much better for the big third baseman, as he swatted a grand slam in the second frame and a solo homer in the sixth en route to a career-high six RBI. Wisdom entered the contest with just three homers and 11 RBI through 25 games in June, so his big game padded those stats considerably on the final day of the month. He leads Chicago with 16 homers and 43 RBI on the season.

  • Padres' Manny Machado: Back in action Thursday

Machado (ankle) is starting Thursday's game against the Dodgers.

Machado missed nine consecutive games due to his ankle injury, but he'll serve as the designated hitter and bat second in Thursday's series opener against the Dodgers. Over his five games prior to his absence, he went 0-for-18 with two homers, a double, eight RBI and five runs.

  • Mike Moustakas 3B | CHW

Reds' Mike Moustakas: Rejoins lineup Thursday

Moustakas (undisclosed) is batting sixth as the designated hitter Thursday against the Cubs, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Moustakas sat out the past three games while nursing a minor injury, but he's back in the lineup for Thursday's series finale in Chicago. The 34-year-old has a .303/.351/.394 slash line across his past 10 contests.

  • Marlins' Willians Astudillo: Clears waivers

The Marlins outrighted Astudillo to Triple-A Jacksonville on Wednesday.

Astudillo looks like he'll stick around in the Miami organization after he went unclaimed when he was exposed to waivers a few days earlier. Before losing his spot on the Marlins' 40-man roster, Astudillo appeared in 17 games with the big club and slashed .270/.289/.351 across 38 plate appearances.
