Kevin Newman 3B | LAA
Pirates' Kevin Newman: Tallies first homer
Newman went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Wednesday against Atlanta.
Newman took Kirby Yates yard in the ninth inning to record his first homer of the season. Despite the lack of power, Newman has recorded five multi-hit performances in his last 14 starts -- good for a .291 average. For the season, Newman is hitting .267 with 23 runs scored and five stolen bases across 52 games.

Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI
Cardinals' Nolan Arenado: Tossed from Wednesday's contest
Arenado was ejected from Wednesday's game against the Cubs for arguing a called check-swing strike three, John Denton of MLB.com reports.
Arenado was called out on a check swing by the home plate umpire to end the third inning, and the third baseman will head to the clubhouse early after disputing the call. The 31-year-old finished the contest 0-for-2 and should be back in the lineup for Thursday's series finale in Chicago.

Mike Moustakas 3B | CHW
Reds' Mike Moustakas: Not starting Wednesday
Moustakas (calf) isn't starting Wednesday against the Phillies.
Moustakas exited Tuesday's loss to Philadelphia due to a left calf injury and will be held out of the lineup a day later. It's not yet clear whether he'll be available off the bench, but Donovan Solano will start at first base and bat cleanup.

Brian Anderson RF | ATL
Marlins' Brian Anderson: Opens scoring with homer
Anderson went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and two total runs scored in Tuesday's 5-3 win over the Athletics.
This was Anderson's second homer since returning from a shoulder injury Aug. 12. In 10 games in that span, he's gone 7-for-34 (.206) with four extra-base hits, four RBI and a 6:12 BB:K. The 29-year-old has a .248/.343/.388 slash line with five long balls, 16 RBI, 30 runs scored and a stolen base through 245 plate appearances this year. He's functioned as the Marlins' primary right fielder with Avisail Garcia (hamstring) out.

Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI
Cardinals' Nolan Arenado: Three hits, homer in Game 2
Arenado went 3-for-4 with a solo homer in the Cardinals' 13-3 win in Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader with the Cubs.
Arenado singled in the first inning before launching a solo shot off Adrian Sampson in the fourth frame. He later added another single in the sixth and the third baseman has now gone 11-for-25 with a home run, seven RBI, two runs and a stolen base over his last six games. Since the beginning of August, Arenado has raised his batting average from .290 to .301 and he's now up to 26 home runs on the season.

Mike Moustakas 3B | CHW
Reds' Mike Moustakas: Aggravates calf issue
Moustakas was removed from Tuesday's loss to the Phillies with a left calf injury, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
The 33-year-old returned from a left calf strain last week, and he may have aggravated the injury Tuesday after going 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored. Manager David Bell said Moustakas was feeling good after the contest, so it's possible the veteran is only dealing with a cramp.

Evan Longoria 3B | ARI
Giants' Evan Longoria: Two hits, homer in win
Longoria went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer in Tuesday's win over the Tigers.
Longoria singled in the top of the fourth inning before later ripping a two-run home run off reliever Daniel Norris in the top of the sixth frame. The long ball was his 12th of the season and he has now homered in consecutive games. Since being reinstated from the 10-day injured list Aug. 8, the 36-year-old has batted .353 with three home runs, nine RBI and seven runs over 34 at-bats in 12 games.
-
Patrick Wisdom 3B | SEA
Cubs' Patrick Wisdom: Back in action for Game 2
Wisdom (finger) is starting at first base and batting sixth in Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader versus St. Louis.
Wisdom was held out of the lineup for Tuesday's matinee, his third straight absence due to a finger strain, but he'll rejoin the starting nine for the nightcap. The 30-year-old has a .193/.288/.386 slash line with three home runs, eight RBI and a 34.8 percent strikeout rate through 17 games in August.

J.D. Davis 1B | LAA
Giants' J.D. Davis: Heads to bench
Davis is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Tigers, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Davis has produced a .961 OPS since being acquired from the Mets on Aug. 2, but he may have to settle for a part-time role now that the Giants have recently returned all of their key position players from the injured list. The righty-hitting Davis should be a fixture in the lineup versus left-handed pitching, but his opportunities against right-handers may be more spotty.

Nick Maton DH | CHW
Phillies' Nick Maton: On bench against lefty
Maton is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Reds.
The lefty-hitting Maton will take a seat against southpaw Nick Lodolo, ending a streak of three consecutive starts for the 25-year-old. With Philadelphia optioning Darick Hall to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Monday, Maton could have a path to playing time against right-handed pitching in the short term, but his opportunities will likely take a hit when Bryce Harper (thumb) returns from the 60-day injured list next week.
