  • Kyle Farmer 3B | ATL

Reds' Kyle Farmer: Not in lineup for nightcap

Farmer is not in the lineup for Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Pirates.

Farmer went 1-for-4 with an RBI in the opener, but he will be limited to bench duty in the nightcap. Spencer Steer will man the hot corner in Farmer's place.

  • Marlins' Jordan Groshans: Making MLB debut Tuesday

Groshans' contract was selected from Triple-A Jacksonville and he is starting Tuesday against the Phillies, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports.

Groshans was traded from Toronto to Miami at the trade deadline for big-league relievers. He has a very strong track record of patience and an ability to make frequent contact in the minors, but Groshans has struggled to tap into his raw power in games. The No. 12 overall pick in 2018 hit .301/.398/.416 (123 wRC+) with two home runs and as many walks as strikeouts (19) in 31 games at Triple-A Jacksonville. Since the trade, he played 12 games at third base, 10 games at shortstop and nine games at second base, so he could play all over the infield over the final three weeks of the season.

  • Marlins' Jordan Groshans: Set to be called up Tuesday

Groshans is expected to be called up by the Marlins on Tuesday, Craig Mish of SportsGrid.com reports.

Groshans posted an .814 OPS over 31 games with Triple-A Jacksonville after being acquired from the Blue Jays at the trade deadline, and it appears that earned him his first trip to the big leagues.

  • Ke'Bryan Hayes 3B | CIN

Pirates' Ke'Bryan Hayes: Swipes two bags

Hayes went 2-for-5 with a run scored and two stolen bases in Monday's 6-3 win over the Reds.

Hayes stole second and third base in the fifth inning and he's now 17-for-22 in steal attempts on the year. He's hitting just .236 with six multi-hit games through 25 appearances since the start of August. Hayes has registered a .244/.314/.343 slash line with 47 runs scored and 29 extra-base hits through 490 plate appearances.

  • Evan Longoria 3B | ARI

Giants' Evan Longoria: Takes seat Monday

Longoria isn't in the starting lineup for Monday's game against Atlanta, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Longoria will get a night off after collecting a pair of hits in Sunday's series finale in Chicago. Wilmer Flores gets the nod at the hot corner and is set to hit third in Longoria's absence.

  • Max Muncy 3B | LAD

Dodgers' Max Muncy: Knocks in three runs in return

Muncy went 1-for-4 with three RBI and a walk in Sunday's 11-2 win against San Diego.

Muncy missed the Dodgers' previous two games due to a left knee issue, but he was able to play as the designated hitter Sunday. The veteran notched a two-run single in the sixth inning and recorded another RBI with a bases-loaded walk in the following frame. Muncy has recorded exactly three RBI in each of the past three games in which he's played, pushing his total to 60 runs batted in on the season.

  • Ryan McMahon 3B | NYY

Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Homers in loss

McMahon went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and an additional run scored in 12-6 loss to the Diamondbacks on Sunday.

McMahon took Ian Kennedy for a ride to tally his 16th home run 62nd RBI of the season. He has now homered in consecutive starts after doing deep twice against the Diamondbacks on Friday. McMahon is slashing .250/.323/.571 in September and could be on the precipice of his first 20-homer season if he can continue to flex his power stroke down the stretch.

  • Brian Anderson RF | ATL

Marlins' Brian Anderson: Two homers in loss

Anderson went 2-for-4 with two homers and three RBI in a 9-3 loss Sunday against the Mets.

Anderson hit a solo homer in the fourth off Taijuan Walker and added a two-run shot in the eighth off Seth Lugo. It was his first two-homer game since knocking three out of the park Sept. 18, 2020. Entering play Sunday, he was 10-for-78 in his last 23 games and his OPS had fallen from .744 to .662. The two home runs Sunday brought his OPS up to .688 and gave him eight long balls on the season.

  • Patrick Wisdom 3B | SEA

Cubs' Patrick Wisdom: Absent from Sunday's lineup

Wisdom isn't starting Sunday against the Giants.

Wisdom was reinstated from the injured list Saturday but didn't appear in the team's loss to San Francisco. Alfonso Rivas will start at first base and bat seventh Sunday.

  • Nick Senzel 3B | LAD

Reds' Nick Senzel: Gets another day off

Reds manager David Bell said Senzel was withheld from the lineup for Sunday's series finale in Milwaukee to get more time off to work on his swing, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports. "We're going to take it one day at a time, but I did want to give him a step back in order to have some freedom to work on some things in the cage and then out on the field," Bell said of Senzel, who was one of two Reds players who took batting practice prior to Sunday's game.

Senzel, who also sat out Saturday's 5-1 loss, will get two days off to work on his swing while he endures a prolonged rough patch at the plate. Since the All-Star break, Senzel has hit .202 with a .505 OPS, numbers that have made it tough for the Reds to justify including him in the lineup on an everyday basis even in the midst of a non-contending season. Senzel still looks to have a hold on the Reds' everyday center-field gig for now, but he could lose work to Aristides Aquino and/or Stuart Fairchild down the stretch if his slump continues to linger into the upcoming week.
