Jordan Lawlar 3B | ARI
Diamondbacks' Jordan Lawlar: Returns to starting nine
Lawlar started at third base and went 1-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a run scored in Friday's 10-5 win over Boston.
Lawlar, who was given a day off after snapping an 0-for-36 run in the majors Tuesday, was back in the starting lineup. He's collected three hits, including a pair of doubles, an RBI and scored three runs since ending the hitless streak. Arizona manager Torey Lovullo talked about Lawlar attacking earlier in counts as a factor in breaking the slump, and the infielder continued that Friday. Lawlar saw a total of 11 pitches in his four plate appearances, one of which was a six-pitch at-bat and two where he swung at the first pitch.

Mark Vientos 3B | NYM
Mets' Mark Vientos: Goes deep in win
Vientos went 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored in Friday's 5-4 win over the Reds.
Vientos made an early impact, driving in a run and scoring in the first inning before crushing a 427-foot homer in the third. The 25-year-old has been on a tear since the All-Star break, batting .285 with 19 extra-base hits and 32 RBI over 35 games. For the season, he owns a .245/.298/.441 slash line with 16 home runs, 56 RBI and 41 runs scored across 396 plate appearances.

Nolan Arenado 3B | STL
Cardinals' Nolan Arenado: Aiming for Sept. 15 return
Arenado (shoulder) expects to begin a rehab assignment next week and return from the 10-day injured list Sept. 15 for the start of the Cardinals' homestand, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.
Arenado has been rehabbing a right shoulder strain at the team's spring training complex and is nearly ready to play in rehab games, likely at Double-A Springfield. Barring any setbacks, Arenado is expected back for the beginning of the Cardinals' final homestand of the season.

Connor Norby 3B | MIA
Marlins' Connor Norby: Placed on IL with quad strain
The Marlins placed Norby on the 10-day injured list Friday due to a strained left quadriceps.
Maximo Acosta was recalled from Triple-A Jacksonville and is starting at second base Friday against the Phillies, while Javier Sanoja will fill Norby's void at third base and bat ninth. Norby had been batting .303 with a .909 OPS over the previous 30 days.

Deniel Ortiz 3B | STL
Cardinals' Deniel Ortiz: Mashing for Peoria
Ortiz is slashing .340/.443/.515 with three home runs, seven steals, a 13.9 percent walk rate and a 23 percent strikeout rate in 28 games for High-A Peoria.
Ortiz, who has split time between third base and first base for Peoria, was promoted to the Midwest League on July 29 after slashing .285/.406/.446 with 10 home runs, 31 steals and a 27.5 percent strikeout rate in 77 games for Single-A Palm Beach. A 16th-round pick in 2024 out of community college, Ortiz is benefitting from a .444 BABIP at High-A, but he also has a 27 percent line drive rate and a 44.6 percent flyball rate, so his batted-ball profile is ideal. Despite his stolen base totals, the righty-hitting Ortiz is listed at 6-foot-1, 230 pounds and grades as a below-average runner, so it will need to be his bat that carries him.

Cam Devanney 3B | PIT
Pirates' Cam Devanney: Exiting starting nine
Devanney is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Brewers.
Devanney had drawn four straight starts at third base, but he'll take a seat for Friday's series opener. Jared Triolo is at the hot corner for the Pirates, while Nick Gonzales will play shortstop and Nick Yorke will handle second base.

Connor Norby 3B | MIA
Marlins' Connor Norby: Heading back to injured list
The Marlins will place Norby on the 10-day injured list prior to Friday's game versus the Phillies with an undisclosed injury, Craig Mish of FanDuel Sports Network Florida reports.
It's not clear what injury Norby is dealing with, but he was removed late from the Marlins' last game Wednesday against the Nationals. The Marlins should have more on his status soon. Maximo Acosta will replace Norby on the roster and could be the team's primary third baseman until Graham Pauley (oblique) returns. Norby has been limited to only 77 games this season due to injuries.

Max Muncy 3B | LAD
Dodgers' Max Muncy: Begins rehab assignment
Muncy (oblique) began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Thursday.
Muncy started the game at third base and played five innings before being removed. He also went 1-for-4 with a single. Assuming Muncy avoids a setback, he is expected back during the Dodgers' homestand that begins Monday.

Alex Freeland 3B | LAD
Dodgers' Alex Freeland: Returning to Triple-A
The Dodgers optioned Freeland to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Thursday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
The move comes in order to make room on the active roster for Ben Rortvedt, who was selected by the Dodgers on Thursday as Will Smith battles a hand injury. Alexis Diaz was also designated for assignment as part of the move. Freeland got the call at the end of July and slashed .190/.292/.310 across his first 97 plate appearances in the big leagues. The rookie infielder had been filling in for a multitude of Dodgers on the injured list, such as Max Muncy, Tommy Edman, Enrique Hernandez and Hyeseong Kim. With some of them nearing a return or having already returned, Freeland might not rejoin the Dodgers in 2025.

Manny Machado 3B | SD
Padres' Manny Machado: Goes deep Wednesday
Machado went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run Wednesday in a loss to the Orioles.
Machado kicked off a late Padres attempt at a comeback with a two-run blast in the sixth inning. It was the veteran third baseman's first long ball over his past 13 contests, a span in which he's slashed just .200/.259/.280. Despite the recent cold stretch, Machado is at an .809 OPS on the campaign, which is on pace for his best mark since 2022.
