  • Braves' Nacho Alvarez: Strains oblique at Triple-A

Alvarez departed Triple-A Gwinnett's game on Thursday due to an oblique strain, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

The severity of the strain has not been revealed, but he is surely headed to the 7-day injured list. Alvarez began this season on the major-league IL with a wrist injury before being activated and optioned earlier this month. Heading into action Thursday, Alvarez has slashed .379/.561/.552 with one homer and a 4:9 K:BB in nine games with Gwinnett.

  • Mark Vientos 1B | NYM

    Mets' Mark Vientos: Returning Friday

Vientos (hamstring) said Thursday that he will be reinstated from the injured list Friday for the start of the Mets' series against Pittsburgh, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Vientos rejoined the team in New York on Thursday after playing seven rehab games at Triple-A Syracuse, during which he went 5-for-28 with six RBI and four runs scored. He'll receive an extra day off to rest before rejoining the active roster, at which point he'll likely take over as the Mets' primary DH while making an occasional start in the infield.

  • Brock Wilken 3B | MIL

Brewers' Brock Wilken: Out 8-to-10 weeks with knee injury

Wilken will be sidelined for 8-to-10 weeks after being diagnosed with a dislocated patella tendon in his left knee, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Wilken suffered the injury while celebrating Double-A Biloxi's first-half championship. He will not require surgery but will be shelved until at least mid-August. The 23-year-old is one of Milwaukee's top prospects and is slashing .230/.392/.550 with 18 home runs over 283 plate appearances with Biloxi in 2025.

  • Giants' Casey Schmitt: Undergoing CT scan

Schmitt (wrist) will undergo a CT scan Thursday, Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

X-rays on Schmitt's left wrist came back negative after he was hit by a pitch in Wednesday's game versus the Marlins, but he'll have additional testing to make sure he didn't suffer a fracture. Schmitt is not in the Giants' lineup Thursday, and the team could have more on his condition after the contest.

  • Max Muncy 3B | LAD

Dodgers' Max Muncy: Sitting versus southpaw

Muncy is not in the lineup for Thursday's game in Colorado.

The left-handed-hitting Muncy doesn't always sit out versus lefty pitching, but he'll begin Thursday's tilt on the bench as the Rockies send southpaw Austin Gomber to the bump. Miguel Rojas will handle third base and bat ninth for the Dodgers.

  • Noelvi Marte RF | CIN

Reds' Noelvi Marte: Rehab at Double-A begins

Marte (oblique) started at designated hitter and went 0-for-4 with a run scored for Double-A Chattanooga on Wednesday.

This was Marte's first rehab game at an affiliate following a weekend spent in the Arizona Complex League. He's expected to play five consecutive games and then will be re-evaluated, per Greg Kuffner of MSN.com. Marte has been on the 10-day injured list since May 7.

  • Eugenio Suarez DH | CIN

Diamondbacks' Eugenio Suarez: Takes light batting practice

Suarez (hand) participated in a light batting practice session Wednesday, MLB.com reports.

Suarez, who was hit by a pitch in Monday's game, is confident he will return to the lineup Friday, but the Diamondbacks want him to undergo an MRI when the swelling subsides. That potentially could happen Thursday. Ildemaro Vargas took over at third base Tuesday, but he suffered a fractured foot and landed on the 10-day injured list. Tim Tawa is currently handling the hot corner, and the team also called up infielder Blaze Alexander from Triple-A Reno.

  • Max Muncy 3B | LAD

Dodgers' Max Muncy: Has another big RBI day in victory

Muncy went 2-for-4 with a home run, two total runs and six RBI in an 8-1 win against the Rockies on Wednesday.

Muncy's first two RBI can be attributed to the weather -- he lofted a pop fly in the infield with two runners on base in the sixth inning, but rain impeded the catch, allowing the ball to drop and resulting in two Dodgers crossing the plate. The veteran third baseman earned every bit of his next hit, as he blasted a 418-foot grand slam in the seventh frame to break the game open for Los Angeles. Muncy has six hits -- including three long balls -- and 13 RBI over his past three games, pushing his season OPS to .829 after it stood at .723 coming into June.

  • Ronny Mauricio 2B | NYM

Mets' Ronny Mauricio: Homer, three hits in win

Mauricio went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Wednesday's 7-3 win over Atlanta.

Mauricio opened the scoring with a solo homer in the third inning while tallying his first career three-hit game. Since making his season debut June 3, he's slashing .224/.274/.414 with three home runs, five RBI, seven runs scored and two steals across 62 plate appearances. The 24-year-old has made 11 of his 16 starts at third base, so he could be at risk of losing playing time with Mark Vientos (hamstring) on track to return from the injured list as early as Thursday.

  • Eric Wagaman DH | NYM

Marlins' Eric Wagaman: Sitting down Wednesday

Wagaman isn't in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Giants.

Wagaman extended his hitting streak to seven games Tuesday with a double, but he'll take a seat Wednesday. Liam Hicks will instead start at first base, opening a spot in the lineup for Heriberto Hernandez to serve as the DH.
