Bregman went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer in Friday's victory over the Red Sox.

The young infielder provided all the offense for Houston in this one, as his RBI single in the third and his two-run shot in the fifth were enough to outpace the stymied Red Sox offense. Bregman has a 1.275 OPS during his current seven-game hitting streak and now holds a .287/.355/.480 slash line on the season.

The Cardinals plan to make a strong push to acquire Donaldson at the conclusion of the 2017 season, Bob Nightengale of USA Today Sports reports.

Donaldson, who is in the final year of arbitration eligibility, is set to become an unrestricted free agent in 2018. If the Cardinals were to acquire the 31-year-old veteran, its lineup would immediately receive an offensive boost, but Donaldson's output isn't guaranteed the same results. Since making the Rogers Centre his home in 2015, the MVP third baseman owns a .301 batting average with a .996 OPS and 165 wRC+ through 214 games at his home field in Toronto. During that same stretch, Donaldson's numbers take a noticeable dip when on the road, hitting just .271 with a .901 OPS and 144 wRC+ over 210 games. Dynasty owners should monitor this situation closely, as a move out of the hitter-friendly Rogers Centre would likely decrease Donaldson's preseason value next year.

Segura (finger) is in the lineup for Friday's game against the Angels, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.

Segura did not start the last four games while tending to his finger injury, but he is back in the lineup Friday for the first game of the Mariners' final series of the season. As he regularly does, Segura will play shortstop and hit leadoff Friday night.

Candelario (wrist) is in the lineup for Friday's game against the Twins.

Candelario did not play Thursday due to a wrist injury, but he will be back in action just one day later. He has impressed in September with a .354 batting average, and will look to stay hot Friday while hitting cleanup against Twins starter Kyle Gibson.

Urshela is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the White Sox.

Urshela will be held out in favor of Yandy Diaz for the second time in three games. Both players saw frequent action at third base in September, so it remains to be seen if one or the other will be the team's primary third baseman in the postseason, or if they will share the duties.

Plouffe went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in Thursday's 9-6 win over the Yankees.

Plouffe's 414-shot in the sixth closed out the scoring for the Rays on the night and was his first homer since June 21. It's been a forgettable campaign for the veteran between his stints with the Athletics and Rays, with all three elements of his .202/.272/.325 line representing his worst marks since his initial big-league cup of coffee with the Twins in 2010.

Chapman went 2-for-3 with two RBI from a run-scoring single and a solo home run and also walked in Thursday's 4-1 win over the Rangers.

The rookie went deep for the first time since Sept. 19 and extended his modest hitting streak to three games in the process. Chapman has a pair of multi-hit efforts in the last five contests as well and now has double-digit RBI for the second straight month. While he's understandably struggled with consistency in his first exposure to big-league pitching this season (.230 average and .330 OBP), Chapman has displayed some nice pop (21 doubles, two triples, 14 homers), considerably raising expectations heading into 2018.

Bregman went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run, a walk and another run scored in Thursday's 12-2 win at Boston.

Bregman made it 5-0 with a two-run shot in the second inning. He came into this game slashing .336/.410/.562 against left-handed pitching, so it's not surprising the 2015 second overall pick was able to find success against Boston southpaw Eduardo Rodriguez. Bregman's been productive down the stretch with seven runs scored and eight RBI in his past six games.

Candelario is out of the lineup Thursday while he recovers from a jammed wrist, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

Candelario should be considered day-to-day for the time being, as this appears to be a relatively minor setback. Andrew Romine will draw the assignment at third in his stead.

Candelario is out of the lineup against Kansas City on Thursday.

Candelario will occupy a seat on the bench after going 2-for-5 with three RBI during Wednesday's contest. In his place, Andrew Romine will cover the hot corner while batting seventh in the order.
