  • Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE

Indians' Jose Ramirez: Not in Thursday's lineup

Ramirez is out of the lineup Thursday against the White Sox.

Ramirez will occupy a seat on the bench following five straight starts, going 10-for-22 (.455 average) with five home runs and seven RBI during that span. In his place, Yandy Diaz draws the assignment at third, while batting third.

  • Mike Moustakas 3B | CHW

Royals' Mike Moustakas: In Thursday's lineup

Moustakas (knee) is in the lineup at DH for Thursday's game against Minnesota, Jeffrey Flanagan of MLB.com reports.

Moustakas was removed from Wednesday's game with right knee irritation, and gets a day off from the field while spending the series opener in the DH spot. Since the calendar turned to September, Moustakas has gone 8-for-20 (.400 average) with one home run and three RBI.

Royals' Mike Moustakas: May DH on Thursday

Manager Ned Yost said Moustakas, who exited Wednesday's game with right knee irritation, may serve as the designated hitter for Thursday's game against the Twins, Rustin Dodd of The Kansas City Star reports.

Yost called the ailment "old news" and said it was just about managing the pain, which likely means more starts at DH with an occasional day off. While it sounds like Moustakas might have to deal with some on-and-off knee pain down the stretch, it doesn't sound like it will force him to miss much, if any, time.

Royals' Mike Moustakas: Exits with knee irritation

Moustakas exited Wednesday's game against the Tigers due to right knee irritation, Rustin Dodd of The Kansas City Star reports.

Moustakas was 2-for-3 before Ramon Torres took over for him in the seventh inning. He missed a few games at the end of August with a knee issue, but it's unclear if the two are related at this point. The good news is the Royals deemed the exit precautionary, so Moustakas may not have to miss much, if any, time due to the ailment. He'll be considered day-to-day for now; more should be known about his status once he is reevaluated Thursday.

  • Evan Longoria 3B | ARI

Rays' Evan Longoria: Launches 18th home run

Longoria went 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, a home run and two runs scored in Wednesday's loss to Minnesota.

The home run was Longoria's first since Aug. 1. In a season in which seemingly every MLB regular has 20 or more home runs, Longoria still sits with just 18 in 538 at-bats. He entered play Wednesday with a .164 ISO, down from .248 a year ago.

  • Yoan Moncada 3B | LAA

White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Not starting Wednesday

Moncada isn't in the lineup Wednesday against the Indians, Colleen Kane of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Moncada returned from the disabled list Tuesday and proceeded to go 1-for-5 at the plate with two strikeouts. He'll sit out Wednesday night while the White Sox start Alen Hanson at second base.

  • Josh Donaldson 3B | MIL

Blue Jays' Josh Donaldson: Out day after 19-inning marathon

Donaldson is out of Wednesday's lineup against the Red Sox.

He got six at-bats before getting ejected in the 18th inning of Tuesday's 19-inning loss in Boston. The Blue Jays are understandably resting some of their regulars the day after that marathon game. Darwin Barney will start at third base and hit seventh.

  • Tigers' Jeimer Candelario: Drives in two Tuesday

Candelario went 1-for-5 with a double, a run scored and two RBI in Tuesday's win over the Royals.

Since getting recalled on Sept. 2, Candelario is 6-for-16 with two doubles, two runs scored and two RBI. He's also started each of the last four games at third base, as the Tigers have been using Nick Castellanos at DH and in right field. Clearly, the team wants to get a good look at Candelario heading into 2018. As one of the Tigers' best hitting prospects, Candelario could claim an everyday role if he impresses during this audition. So far, he's off to a good start.

  • Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE

Indians' Jose Ramirez: Another two-homer game Tuesday

Ramirez went 2-for-5 with two solo home runs in Tuesday's 9-4 win over the White Sox.

That's now five homers in the last three games and 10 extra-base hits in the last five for Ramirez, who's put together a mammoth .431/.453/1.039 slash line over his last dozen contests. The 24-year-old is the hottest hitter in the majors and essentially a must-start in every fantasy format right now, including DFS.

  • Red Sox's Rafael Devers: Sits for second straight day

Devers is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Blue Jays, Jason Mastrodonato of the Boston Herald reports.

With the Red Sox's infield finally healthy, Devers will head to the bench for a second straight game. It's worth noting that a righty is on the mound for the opposition Tuesday, which suggests Devers may shift to more of a part-time role down the stretch. Eduardo Nunez will again lead off and start at the hot corner.
