Blue Jays' Josh Donaldson: Activated ahead of twin bill

The Blue Jays activated Donaldson (shoulder) from the 10-day disabled list Thursday, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Donaldson missed just over three weeks with right shoulder inflammation, but the Blue Jays are confident the star third baseman won't experience any further issues with his throwing after taking the time off to recover from the injury. The 32-year-old recently completed a two-game rehab assignment at High-A Dunedin, going 2-for-5 with a walk in those contests. Perhaps more importantly, Donaldson logged seven innings at the hot corner Tuesday and made crisp throws on each of three occasions he needed to retire a batter at first base. The Blue Jays haven't revealed their lineup for the first game of their doubleheader Thursday against the Indians, but it's generally expected that Donaldson will start at third base in at least one of the contests while heading to the bench or serving as the designated hitter for the other contest.

  • Danny Valencia 3B | BAL

Orioles' Danny Valencia: Back in action Wednesday

Valencia (hamstring) is starting at third base and hitting fifth Wednesday against the Angels, Brittany Ghiroli of MLB.com reports.

Valencia is good to go after missing the last two games with hamstring tightness. The 33-year-old was starting to find his swing prior to picking up the minor ailment over the weekend, collecting five hits in his past three games, so he'll look to pick up right where he left off in his return to action.

  • Jace Peterson SS | ARI

Orioles' Jace Peterson: Out of lineup Wednesday

Peterson is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Angels, Brittany Ghiroli of MLB.com reports.

Peterson has started every game since joining the Orioles at the end of April, but he's hitting just .136/.269/.227 over that stretch, so he'll head to the bench to clear his head while Engelb Vielma picks up a start at the keystone.

Blue Jays' Josh Donaldson: Likely to be activated Thursday

Donaldson (shoulder) will join the Blue Jays in Cleveland on Thursday and will likely be activated from the 10-day disabled list prior to Thursday's series opener against the Indians, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Donaldson played seven innings at third base in his second rehab game with High-A Dunedin on Tuesday and reported no issues, clearing the way for him to rejoin the big club after spending the past two and a half weeks on the shelf with shoulder inflammation. The 32-year-old, who was hitting .239/.352/.457 with three homers prior to landing on the DL, will immediately slot back into the heart of the Blue Jays' lineup once activated.

  • Yoan Moncada 3B | LAA

White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Dealing with hamstring tightness

Moncada was removed from Wednesday's game due to left hamstring tightness.

It appeared as though Moncada sustained a knee injury after sliding awkwardly into third base, but the club revealed that he's only dealing with a minor hamstring issue and that he's day-to-day for the time being. Though he will likely be healthy enough to play during Thursday's series opener versus Minnesota, manager Rick Renteria may choose to give the 22-year-old a day off.

  • Yoan Moncada 3B | LAA

White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Removed with knee injury

Moncada was taken out of Wednesday's game with an apparent knee injury after awkwardly sliding into third base.

Moncada suffered the injury during the eighth inning after going from first to third on a Yolmer Sanchez single. The White Sox stated that they will provide more information when it becomes available, so expect an update on his status in the coming hours.

  • Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE

Indians' Jose Ramirez: Dealing with groin soreness

Ramirez is stationed on the bench for Wednesday's game due to mild right groin/hip soreness, but he should be ready to go for Thursday's doubleheader against the Blue Jays, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.

Manager Terry Francona said that Ramirez likely could've played Wednesday, but he wanted to give his third baseman the day off with five games coming up in the next four days. Expect to see Ramirez back in the starting nine at third base for Game 1 of Thursday's doubleheader.

  • Jean Segura 3B | CLE

Mariners' Jean Segura: Plates pair Tuesday

Segura went 0-for-3 with two RBI from a sacrifice fly and a groundout in a win over the Athletics on Tuesday. He also walked once and scored a run.

While he didn't manage to hit safely, Segura still contributed a third of the Mariners' run total on the night. It's an extension of a multi-game RBI barrage for the shortstop, one that's seen him drive in 16 of his 23 runs on the season since April 24.

  • Mike Moustakas 3B | CHW

Royals' Mike Moustakas: Late addition to Wednesday lineup

Updating a previous report, Moustakas (forearm) has been added to the Kansas City lineup for Wednesday's game in Boston, according to Maria Torres of The Kansas City Star. He'll start at first base and bat third.

It initially looked like Moustakas would be on the bench for the second straight day while he nursed a bruised right forearm, but the Royals evidently had a late change of heart after getting a chance to evaluate the 29-year-old earlier in the morning. The Royals scratched Lucas Duda from the lineup in order to make room for Moustakas, who will make his first career start on the opposite end of the diamond. Even though he was rested in Tuesday's contest, Moustakas still came on to pinch hit in the 10th inning, suggesting the Royals aren't concerned about the injury disrupting his hot start at the plate this season.

  • Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE

Indians' Jose Ramirez: Day off against Rangers

Ramirez is not in the lineup against Texas on Wednesday, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.

Ramirez will head to the bench for a rare day off following 14 straight starts, including three straight multi-hit games. Erik Gonzalez will start at third base and bat ninth. Over 28 games this season, Ramirez is hitting .270/.352/.514 with seven home runs, 16 RBI and two stolen bases.
