Mariners' Jean Segura: Should be part of Tuesday's lineup

Segura (head) is expected to play Tuesday against the Rangers, TJ Cotterill of The News Tribune reports.

Segura was a late scratch from Monday's lineup, but he didn't suffer a setback. Manager Scott Servais stated he was being conservative by keeping Segura out of the lineup, and that he should be good to go for Tuesday's matchup.

  • Royce Lewis 3B | MIN

Twins' Royce Lewis: Hitting well at Low-A

Lewis, 18, is slashing .303/.350/.407 across 161 plate appearances with Low-A Cedar Rapids this season.

Lewis received the day off Monday in Cedar Rapids' 4-3 loss to Clinton, a deserved reward after he played both ends of a doubleheader Sunday. In the first game of the twin bill, Lewis raised his batting average back over .300 after turning in the first multi-homer game of his career. Lewis still only has three long balls and nine total extra-base hits on the campaign, but he projects to add more power as he gets older and fills out his 6-foot-2, 188-pound frame. For now, Lewis' appeal in dynasty formats lies primarily in his lightning-quick bat and premium wheels. Lewis has already collected 13 steals this season and owns a 31-for-35 success rate on the bases through the first 91 games of his minor-league career.

Blue Jays' Josh Donaldson: Doesn't believe injury is serious

Donaldson doesn't believe the calf issue that forced him out of Monday's game against the Red Sox is serious, Gregor Chisholm of MLB.com reports.

Donaldson exited the game in the fifth inning with left calf tightness, being replaced by Gio Urshela after going 1-for-1 with a pair of walks. The good news is the third baseman didn't sound worried about the issue afterwards, comparing it to the calf cramps he dealt with in spring training that forced him to miss a couple of Grapefruit League games rather than the calf strain that sent him to the disabled list last season. Donaldson added that his presence in Tuesday's lineup will depend on how he feels, though he admitted the Blue Jays would likely give him a day off regardless.

Blue Jays' Josh Donaldson: Dealing with calf tightness

Donaldson was removed from Monday's game against the Red Sox with left calf tightness, Gregor Chisholm of MLB.com reports.

Donaldson appeared to suffer the injury while running the bases in the fifth inning, as he gingerly made his way to third base on a double from Justin Smoak before being replaced on the bases by Gio Urshela. The severity of the issue remains unclear at this point, but he spent some time on the disabled list at the start of last season with a right calf injury. He is currently be evaluated by the Blue Jays' medical staff.

  • Jean Segura 3B | CLE

Mariners' Jean Segura: Scratched from lineup

Segura (head) was scratched from Monday's lineup against the Rangers.

Segura was originally in the starting lineup for Monday's series opener, but he was replaced by Andrew Romine at shortstop after failing to gain clearance from team doctors following a pregame workout. He'll likely be reevaluated prior to Tuesday's game to determine his availability.

Blue Jays' Josh Donaldson: Exits with apparent injury

Donaldson exited Monday's game against the Red Sox with an apparent injury.

Donaldson was 1-for-1 with a pair of walks prior to exiting the game in the fifth inning. Specifics regarding the injury remain unclear, but the third baseman was running gingerly around the bases before Gio Urshela replaced him as a pinch runner.

  • Jean Segura 3B | CLE

Mariners' Jean Segura: Could be scratched from lineup

Segura could be scratched from Monday's lineup against the Rays, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.

Segura, who missed Sunday's game with a head injury, is tentatively penciled into the starting lineup Monday, but he still has to meet with doctors before being cleared to play. If Segura is forced to sit out another game, Andrew Romine would likely enter the lineup in his place.

  • Matt Chapman 3B | SF

Athletics' Matt Chapman: Breaks out of slump Sunday

Chapman went 2-for-4 with a go-ahead RBI single in a win over the Diamondbacks on Sunday.

Chapman lined a single to left that plated Matt Olson in the sixth with what would ultimately turn out to be the winning run. The 25-year-old had been stuck in an 0-for-17 slump entering the game, so the multi-hit effort was a welcome departure from recent struggles. Despite Sunday's production, Chapman has still limped to a paltry .198 average in May.

  • Jean Segura 3B | CLE

Mariners' Jean Segura: Back in lineup Monday

Segura (head) is starting at shortstop and hitting leadoff Monday against the Rangers, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

Segura exited Saturday's game against the Twins after getting accidentally kicked in the head. Fortunately, it was determined afterwards that the shortstop didn't suffer a concussion and wouldn't require a stay on the disabled list. He apparently checked out OK following a workout Monday morning, so Segura will rejoin the starting lineup after missing just one game. The 28-year-old is hitting an impressive .324/.341/.456 with four homers and 12 stolen bases in 50 games this season, and he'll look to keep things rolling against righty Doug Fister in his return to action.

  • J.D. Davis 1B | LAA

Astros' J.D. Davis: Gets start Monday

Davis will start at first base and bat seventh in Monday's game against the Yankees.

With Alex Bregman getting a day off, Yulieski Gurriel moves to third base and Davis takes Gurriel's usual spot across the diamond.
