Jeimer Candelario 3B | LAA
Tigers' Jeimer Candelario: Launches 17th homer
Candelario went 3-for-6 with a double, a solo home run and a second run scored in Wednesday's 10-2 rout of the White Sox.
It's the young switch-hitter's first multi-hit performance since Aug. 21, and Candelario has been mired in an 8-for-49 (.163) slump in between those efforts. He still has a respectable 17 homers on the year, but his .225/.312/.403 line leaves a lot to be desired.

Alex Bregman 3B | CHC
Astros' Alex Bregman: Stays hot, drives in five
Bregman went 2-for-3 with a home run, two walks and five RBI in Wednesday's win over the Twins.
It was a monster day at the plate for Bregman, starting off with a two-run homer in the third and capped off by a three-RBI double in the eighth. The 25-year-old is on a tear, homering in four of the last five games while hitting .446 (29-for-65) over his last 17 games, as he moves into the top five in the American League with 96 RBI.

Rafael Devers 1B | SF
Red Sox's Rafael Devers: Will share third with Nunez
Devers, who returned from the disabled list Tuesday, will not get as much playing time as he did before going down with the injury, Michael Silverman of the Boston Herald reports. Eduardo Nunez started at third base Tuesday.
Manager Alex Cora is liking the way Nunez has been swinging the bat, and he provides more consistent defense at the hot corner than Devers. Cora acknowledges Devers' potential, but needs to see him play better before making him the everyday third baseman.

Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE
Indians' Jose Ramirez: Hits bench Wednesday
Ramirez is not in the lineup against Kansas City on Wednesday, Jeffrey Flanagan of MLB.com reports.
Ramirez will receive a rare day off following 21 straight starts. The slugger has failed to record a home run since Aug. 17 -- his longest drought of the season -- and has picked up just three extra-base hits during that span. Look for him to return to the lineup Thursday. Yandy Diaz will set up at third base and bat third in his place.

Alex Bregman 3B | CHC
Astros' Alex Bregman: Slashes three doubles, drives in two
Bregman went 3-for-4 with three doubles, a run and two RBI in Tuesday's win over the Twins.
Bregman hit three doubles -- two of which drove in runs -- off three different pitchers, giving him an MLB-leading 46 two-baggers on the year. Over his last 15 games Bregman is hitting .421 with four home runs, 14 RBI and 14 runs while sporting a .492 on-base percentage. The 24-year-old's .944 OPS trails only Jose Ramirez (.992) and Matt Carpenter (.956) among MLB third basemen, and he ranks within the top five in just about every other offensive category at the position.

Rafael Devers 1B | SF
Red Sox's Rafael Devers: Not starting first game back
Devers is not starting Tuesday against the Braves, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports.
Reports indicated that Devers would be reduced to a platoon role after returning from a hamstring injury, and those reports look accurate so far. With southpaw Sean Newcomb on the mound, Eduardo Nunez will start at third base in place of Devers.

Rafael Devers 1B | SF
Red Sox's Rafael Devers: Activated as expected
Devers (hamstring) was activated from the disabled list as expected Tuesday.
Devers had been out since mid-August with a hamstring strain. He's likely stuck in a timeshare with Eduardo Nunez at third base down the stretch.

Josh Donaldson 3B | MIL
Indians' Josh Donaldson: Hits grand slam in rehab game
Donaldson (calf) hit a grand slam in his first rehab game for Triple-A Columbus on Monday.
The third baseman went 1-for-2 with a walk on the day. He had already appeared in a pair of rehab games for High-A Dunedin before being shipped to Cleveland. He'll require a handful more before joining up with his new team, which is expected to happen Sept. 11, the first day he's eligible.

J.D. Davis 1B | LAA
Astros' J.D. Davis: Called up for stretch run
Davis was recalled by the Astros on Tuesday, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Davis appeared in 30 games for the Astros earlier in the season, hitting a disappointing .176/.247/.235. His numbers for Triple-A Fresno are far better, however, as he's hit .342/.406/.583 at that level. He's unlikely to be much more than a bench bat over the final month of the season unless the team suffers a sudden injury crisis.

Matt Duffy 3B | TEX
Rays' Matt Duffy: Plates two in win over Toronto
Duffy went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI and a run scored Monday against the Blue Jays.
Duffy drove in a pair in the second inning on a double to center field, handing the Rays a four-run lead. He sports a .299 batting average with 39 RBI and 10 stolen bases through 115 games this year. He's been hot at the plate recently, recording seven multi-hit games over his previous 10 contests.
