  • Abraham Toro 1B | BOS

Astros' Abraham Toro: Enters as replacement

Toro entered Wednesday's game when third baseman Alex Bregman was removed with a hamstring injury. He went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored in a 13-6 win over the Rockies.

Toro entered as a pinch runner in the fourth inning when Bregman limped into second base with a double. He's the top backup at third base with Aledmys Diaz (groin) unavailable. Bregman is not expected to play Thursday's series finale, so Toro, who had served as the designated hitter the previous three games, could return to the starting lineup.

  • Red Sox's Rafael Devers: Collects three more hits

Devers went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer and an RBI double during Wednesday's 6-3 win over the Phillies.

The 23-year-old had his second consecutive three-hit game, and his run production Wednesday proved to be the difference in the contest. Devers is off to a slow start with a .231/.278/.407 slash line through 23 games, but he's shown signs of life over the past week, going 11-for-31 with five extra-base hits.

  • Josh Donaldson 3B | MIL

    Twins' Josh Donaldson: Increases activity

Donaldson (calf) took grounders at third base before batting practice on Wednesday and was scheduled to do some running, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. "The running and the movement and any sort of agility work would be certainly a step up from where we've been," said manager Rocco Baldelli.

He suffered the calf injury on July 31 and at first the injury was thought to be minor. He then was later placed on the 10-day IL retroactive to Aug. 4. His comeback from the injury had been stalled until earlier this week. While he's making progress, there's still no timetable for his return.

  • Alex Bregman 3B | CHC

Astros' Alex Bregman: Nursing hamstring strain

Bregman was diagnosed with a strained right hamstring after leaving Wednesday's win over the Rockies, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Bregman sustained the injury running out a double during the fourth inning and was quickly removed after limping into second base. Manager Dusty Baker said he expects the 26-year-old to "be more sore in the morning than he is now," so he seems unlikely to be in the lineup for Thursday's series finale.

  • Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE

Indians' Jose Ramirez: Swipes two bags

Ramirez went 0-for-3 but drew two walks, scored two runs, and stole two bases Wednesday against the Pirates.

Ramirez was hitless but found other ways to be productive, coming around to score both times he reached base on free passes. His pair of his stolen bases came in the eighth inning, when he stole second and third base one batter apart. Ramirez now has five stolen bases for the season, and is hitting .256/.364/.500 with five home runs, 19 runs scored and 18 RBI across 107 plate appearances.

  • Tigers' Jeimer Candelario: Goes deep from leadoff spot

Candelario went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run in Wednesday's 5-3 loss to the White Sox.

Detroit changed up its lineup in this one, moving Candelario up to the leadoff spot for the first time this season. The 26-year-old responded with a strong performance, and he's looked better lately after a slow start to the year. Over his last 12 games, Candelario is batting .327 with two home runs, eight RBI and 10 runs scored.

  • Alex Bregman 3B | CHC

Astros' Alex Bregman: Managing hamstring issue

Bregman exited Wednesday's game against the Rockies with right hamstring discomfort, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

The 26-year-old appeared to suffer the injury while running to second base on his fourth-inning double, leading to his prompt removal from the contest. The Astros will already be without Yordan Alvarez (knee) for the remainder of the season and Michael Brantley (quadriceps) is still on the injured list, so the lineup can ill afford to be without another key piece. Bregman should be considered day-to-day until the team offers more information on the injury.

  • Alex Bregman 3B | CHC

Astros' Alex Bregman: Exits Wednesday's game

Bregman was removed from Wednesday's game with an apparent leg injury, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

The 26-year-old hit a double during the fourth inning Wednesday, but he pulled up while running to first base and exited after limping into second. Bregman should be considered day-to-day until the team offers more information on the injury.

  • Jake Burger 1B | TEX

White Sox's Jake Burger: Joins player pool

Burger (Achilles) was added to the White Sox's 60-man player pool Wednesday, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.

Burger was playing in an independent league to get reps this season after he was left off the team's 60-man roster, but he'll now get to work at alternate camp in Schaumburg. He hasn't seen any game action since 2017 due to Achilles issues, and it's unclear whether he's game ready for the shortened 2020 season.

  • Red Sox's Rafael Devers: Three-hit effort in loss

Devers went 3-for-5 with an RBI double and two runs scored in Tuesday's 13-6 loss to the Phillies.

Devers got on base with a single in the first inning and then scored on a Xander Bogaerts single. In the third, Devers knocked in Alex Verdugo with a double before scoring on a J.D. Martinez double. In his last seven games, Devers is 8-for-30 (.267) with three RBI and five runs scored. He's slashing .207/.258/.345 with two homers, six RBI and 13 runs scored in 22 games overall.
