  • Matt Chapman 3B | SF

Athletics' Matt Chapman: Leads A's with three hits

Chapman went 3-for-5 with a solo home run, two RBI and two runs scored in Monday's 9-5 win over the Diamondbacks.

Chapman's highlight of the night came in the fifth, when he took Madison Bumgarner yard on a first-pitch hanging curveball. He drove in his second run of the night on a base hit in the ninth as the A's put the game out of reach. Despite this solid performance, Chapman has not been seeing the ball very well so far, as he owns a slash line of just .179/.267/.333 with two home runs, five RBI and four runs scored. Monday was the first time all season that he didn't strike out, and he owns a 5:15 BB:K in 45 plate appearances.

  • Anthony Rendon 3B | LAA

Angels' Anthony Rendon: Lands on injured list

Rendon (groin) was placed on the 10-day injured list Monday, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Rendon felt something in his left groin Saturday against the Blue Jays. He was initially considered day-to-day but has since been diagnosed with a strain that's significant enough to cost him at least 10 days. Jose Rojas will start in his place Monday against the Royals and appears to be the top option at the hot corner in his absence.

  • Josh Jung 3B | TEX

Rangers' Josh Jung: Out until at least late May

Jung (foot) won't be ready for game action until late May or early June, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Jung is expected to open this season at Triple-A Round Rock despite the fact that he hasn't appeared in a game above Low-A. That seemingly gives him a shot to make his big-league debut this season, but the stress fracture he suffered in his left foot in mid-March may wind up setting his timeline back enough that he doesn't get the chance to push for an opportunity until next year.

  • Anthony Rendon 3B | LAA

Angels' Anthony Rendon: Sits as expected

Rendon (groin) is out of the lineup as expected Monday against the Royals.

Rendon sat Sunday against the Blue Jays due to a groin issue and was expected to miss at least one more game. It's unclear when he'll be back in the lineup, though he's at least joined the Angels on their road trip, which seems to suggest the team thinks he could be back soon. Jose Rojas will start at third base Monday.

  • Alex Bregman 3B | CHC

Astros' Alex Bregman: Returns to lineup

Bregman (leg) will return to the lineup for Monday's game against the Tigers, batting third and playing third base, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Bregman sat Saturday against Oakland due to leg soreness, but he's ready to go again following Sunday's off day. He has just one hit in his last three contests after opening the year with four straight multi-hit games.

  • Josh Donaldson 3B | MIL

Twins' Josh Donaldson: Not activated Monday

Donaldson (hamstring) isn't included in the lineup for Monday's game against the Red Sox and isn't expected to be activated from the 10-day injured list until at least Tuesday.

The Twins' decision not to reinstate Donaldson from the IL ahead of the series opener shouldn't be taken as a sign that he experienced a setback. Instead, the 35-year-old is likely just receiving some extra maintenance after he logged six at-bats and played five innings at third base in a simulated game at the Twins' alternate site in Saint Paul on Sunday. Assuming Donaldson is feeling good after a full day of rest, he'll likely return to action Tuesday.

  • Red Sox's Rafael Devers: Homers twice in win

Devers went 2-for-5 with two home runs, five RBI, one walk and two strikeouts in Sunday's 14-9 win over the Orioles.

Devers capped a strong series at Camden Yards by helping to propel the Red Sox to the win in Sunday's high-scoring contest. In the three-game series against Baltimore, Devers went 6-for-13 with three home runs, nine RBI and five runs.

  • Gio Urshela 3B | MIN

Yankees' Gio Urshela: Homers, racks up three hits

Urshela went 4-for-5 with a two-run home run, a double and an additional RBI in Sunday's win over the Rays.

Urshela launched his first homer of the season off Michael Wacha in the third inning, and he plated another run in extra innings with an RBI single that scored Gary Sanchez. Aside from going yard for the first time this season, this was Urshela's second multi-hit game over his last three outings.

  • Josh Donaldson 3B | MIL

Twins' Josh Donaldson: No issues following simulated game

Donaldson (hamstring) felt good and didn't have any issues following Sunday's simulated game at the Twins' alternate training site in St. Paul, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

Donaldson played five innings of defense Sunday and took six at-bats. He hit a home run in one of his trips to the plate, and his return could be imminent as long as he continues to feel good. Luis Arraez will likely move to left field once Donaldson is cleared to return to third base.

  • Anthony Rendon 3B | LAA

Angels' Anthony Rendon: Unlikely for Monday

Manager Joe Maddon said he doesn't anticipate Rendon (groin) will be in the lineup for Monday's series opener in Kansas City, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Rendon was scheduled to sit out Sunday's game against the Blue Jays before it was ultimately rained out, but the Angels apparently aren't counting on the third baseman to fully move past the injury after one day off. The 30-year-old will travel with the Angels to Kansas City and is being viewed as day-to-day, but he'll likely need to demonstrate some sort of progress in his recovery during the remainder of the road trip to avoid a stint on the injured list.
