    Twins' Josh Donaldson: Activated Wednesday

Donaldson (hamstring) was officially activated ahead of Game 2 of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Red Sox, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports. He is batting second and starting at third base.

He worked out on the field in between games and was cleared by the Twins medical staff to return. A healthy Donaldson can still do a lot of damage and he slots right back into a favorable spot in the lineup.

  • Abraham Toro 1B | BOS

Astros' Abraham Toro: Called up and starting

Toro was recalled by the Astros and is starting Wednesday's game against the Tigers, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Toro will make his season debut at third base Wednesday, batting seventh. The 24-year-old was recalled after five Astros were placed on the COVID-19 injured list Wednesday, so Toro could see his fair share of playing time in the near future if the team's sidelined starters miss extended time.

  • Alex Bregman 3B | CHC

Astros' Alex Bregman: Placed on COVID IL

The Astros placed Bregman on the injured list Wednesday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Bregman was one of five players Houston placed on the IL on Wednesday without an injury designation, indicating that each member of the quintet has been ruled out due to COVID-19-related protocols. No reports have come out yet specifying whether Bregman (or any of the other four Astros) tested positive for the virus, or if the players in question have been ruled out through contact tracing. Aledmys Diaz or Abraham Toro will likely see most of the action at third base while Bregman is sidelined.

  • Josh Donaldson 3B | MIL

Twins' Josh Donaldson: Likely to be activated for Game 2

Twins manager Rocco Baldelli said he expects Donaldson (hamstring) to be activated ahead of the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader with the Red Sox, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

Since Donaldson has recently recovered from a right hamstring strain, the Twins weren't keen on having him play both ends of the twin bill, so the team will wait to activate him until the second game to maintain some extra roster flexibility. Assuming Donaldson is in fact activated following the first game, he should step back into a starting role at third base for the nightcap.

  • DJ LeMahieu 2B | NYY

Yankees' DJ LeMahieu: Gets rare rest day

LeMahieu is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays, Lindsey Adler of The Athletic reports.

Aaron Hicks will get a turn in the leadoff role while LeMahieu sits for the first time this season. With a .295/.392/.455 slash line through his first 11 starts, LeMahieu has continued to thrive atop the lineup in his third season with the Yankees.

  • Red Sox's Rafael Devers: Launches another homer

Devers went 1-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run in Tuesday's 4-2 win over Minnesota.

Devers continues to punish opposing pitchers, going deep for a fourth straight game. He's 7-for-16 with five home runs and 10 RBI during that stretch. His 2-for-19 start and shoddy defense have been replaced by this dazzling display of power.

  • Alex Bregman 3B | CHC

Astros' Alex Bregman: Removed from blowout loss

Bregman was removed from Tuesday's 8-2 loss to the Tigers prior to the seventh inning, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

At the time of Bregman's removal, the Astros were down 7-1 and manager Dusty Baker opted to protect the third baseman, who dealt with hamstring injuries during spring training. The manager has held Bregman out of two regular-season games thus far as a protective measure and cited "sore legs" as a reason for one of them. "What went into my decision was the score," Baker said about removing Bregman, Michael Brantley and Jose Altuve late in the game. "Brantley wasn't feeling that well and Bregman, I had to protect his legs. That's something that might be going on all year." Prior to Tuesday's game, Bregman told Rome that he's trending in the right direction in his buildup from the hamstring issues that bothered him this spring.

  • Ramon Urias 3B | STL

Orioles' Ramon Urias: Makes impact in twin bill

Urias went 2-for-6 with a home run and three RBI across both games of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Mariners.

After popping his first homer of the year, a two-run shot, during a 4-3 loss in the opener, Urias ensured a split for the O's by bringing home Rio Ruiz with a walkoff single in the nightcap. Urias was just 1-for-7 on the season coming into Tuesday and doesn't have much of an offensive resume in the minors, but he should continue to see semi-regular playing time at second base given Baltimore's lack of other options.

  • Josh Donaldson 3B | MIL

Twins' Josh Donaldson: To be activated Wednesday

Manager Rocco Baldelli said he expects Donaldson (hamstring) to come off the injured list and rejoin the lineup Wednesday against the Red Sox, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.

It seemed like Donaldson would come back at some point during this series, but we'll have to wait until the third game of the four-game set for him to slot back in. Luis Arraez will still probably play plenty, especially against righties, either at other positions or at third base when Donaldson gets a day at DH.

  • Josh Donaldson 3B | MIL

Twins' Josh Donaldson: Not starting Tuesday

Donaldson (hamstring) isn't included in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Red Sox, signaling that he hasn't been activated from the 10-day injured list.

After seeing extended work in a simulated game Sunday at the Twins' alternate site, Donaldson wasn't activated ahead of Monday's scheduled game against Boston. The Twins' decision not to bring Donaldson back Monday seemed like part of a plan to give him a maintenance day following the sim game, but his absence from the lineup Tuesday is more of a surprise. Since Minnesota hasn't suggested that Donaldson is dealing with any sort of setback, the expectation remains that he'll be activated from the IL at some point this week.
