  • Twins' Willians Astudillo: Heads to bench

Astudillo is out of the lineup for Monday's game against Cleveland, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Astudillo will head to the bench after going 6-for-22 with a home run while starting each of the past six games. Minnesota still has two everyday players on the injured list in Miguel Sano (hamstring) and Max Kepler (COVID-19 health and safety protocols), but Andrelton Simmons' return Monday from the COVID-19 IL leaves one fewer lineup spot available for the versatile Astudillo. Minnesota will likely have two of Alex Kirilloff, Jake Cave, Astudillo and Brent Rooker fill Sano's and Kepler's lineup spots for any further contests the pair misses.

  • Gio Urshela 3B | MIN

Yankees' Gio Urshela: Hits third home run

Urshela went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer and three strikeouts in Sunday's 7-3 loss to Cleveland.

Urshela had gone hitless in his last two games, but he put the Yankees on the board with his third home run of the season in the fourth inning Sunday. However, the 29-year-old left four runners on base by striking out in each of his other three at-bats. Urshela is now slashing .250/.301/.441 with seven extra-base hits, nine RBI and seven runs this year.

  • Anthony Rendon 3B | LAA

    Angels' Anthony Rendon: Nearing activation

Angels manager Joe Maddon said Rendon (groin) will likely be activated from the 10-day injured list Monday or Tuesday, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Rendon wasn't able to make it back from the IL for the Angels' weekend series in Houston, but he appears to have made continued progress in his recovery from the left groin strain nonetheless. The Angels could put him through some sort of pregame workout Monday before deciding whether to activate him for the series opener in Texas or delay his return for another day. Jose Rojas and Luis Rengifo have been the primary replacements at third base since Rendon landed on the IL on April 12.

  • Twins' Willians Astudillo: Getting regular work at first base

Astudillo will bat ninth and man first base Sunday against the Pirates.

Astudillo will be making his sixth consecutive start Sunday, with each of the last four coming at first base. The 29-year-old looks poised to stick as the Twins' primary option at first base until Miguel Sano (hamstring) returns from what's expected to be a brief stay on the 10-day injured list. Astudillo is slashing .293/.286/.415 with a home run and six RBI over 42 plate appearances on the season.

  • DJ LeMahieu 2B | NYY

Yankees' DJ LeMahieu: Sits for second time in 2021

LeMahieu is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against Cleveland.

He'll exit the lineup for the second time in 21 games this season in what's most likely a maintenance day. After hitting an even .300 through his first 15 starts, LeMahieu has fallen into a minor slump of late, going 2-for-17 in the past four contests. Rougned Odor checks into the lineup at second base in LeMahieu's stead.

  • Nick Madrigal 3B | LAA

White Sox's Nick Madrigal: Walkoff winner

Madrigal went 1-for-4 with an RBI double in Saturday's 2-1 win over Texas.

Madrigal fell behind in the count 0-2 when reliever John King left a slider over the heart of the plate that "Nicky Two Strikes" lined over the head of right fielder Joey Gallo, producing the walkoff win for the White Sox. The contact-hitting second baseman delivered a run for the third straight contest and has five RBI over the last five.

  • Alex Bregman 3B | CHC

Astros' Alex Bregman: Crosses plate four times

Bregman went 2-for-3 with a walk, a home run, four runs scored and three RBI in Saturday's 16-2 rout of the Angels.

The third baseman helped chase Griffin Canning from the game in the third inning with a three-run blast. Bregman extended his hitting streak to four games, pushing his slash line through 14 contests to a dazzling .340/.407/.528 with three homers, nine runs and 12 RBI.

  • Yoan Moncada 3B | LAA

White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Records three hits

Moncada went 3-for-4 with a run scored in Saturday's win over the Rangers.

Moncada reached base three times and also scored the first run of the game after a wild pitch from Kyle Gibson with the bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth. The Cuban infielder has notched back-to-back games with three hits and extended his hitting streak to five games.

  • Yoan Moncada 3B | LAA

White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Homers, drives in three

Moncada went 3-for-4 with a home run, a walk and three RBI in Friday's 9-7 win over the Rangers.

Moncada knocked RBI singles in both the third and fourth innings before going deep for a solo blast in the eighth. It was his first multi-hit game since April 12, raising his season average to .234 in 64 at-bats.

  • Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE

Indians' Jose Ramirez: On base four times in loss

Ramirez went 2-for-2 with a pair of walks and a run scored in Friday's 5-3 loss to the Yankees.

Ramirez walked in the first inning and scored on an Eddie Rosario groundout. Over the next eight innings, Ramirez accounted for three of Cleveland's five baserunners. The third baseman has offered all-around production with four homers, eight RBI, eight runs scored, four stolen bases and a .242/.329/.455 slash line in 18 games this year.
