Yankees' Gio Urshela: Sitting after being hit by pitch

Urshela is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Royals, one day after he was struck by a pitch in the right shin during the Yankees' 6-5 loss, Brendan Kuty of The Newark Star-Ledger reports.

Urshela wasn't removed from the contest when he was struck by the pitch in his seventh-inning at-bat, but he was clearly favoring his right leg in the field for the rest of the night. Manager Aaron Boone will look to get ahead of the injury by holding out Urshela, who can be considered day-to-day heading into Thursday's series finale. Urshela had recorded three multi-hit games in his last five appearances, and he went 8-for-20 with two homers, a double, four RBI, four runs and eight strikeouts during that time.

  • DJ LeMahieu 2B | NYY

Yankees' DJ LeMahieu: Continues offensive surge

LeMahieu went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and a walk in a loss to Kansas City on Tuesday.

The infielder came up to the plate with the Yankees trailing 6-3 in the eighth inning and cut the lead to one run with a two-run blast to right field. The long ball was his sixth of the season, and half have come in his past nine games. LeMahieu is still slashing a disappointing .263/.338/.365 overall, but he has been heating up of late, batting .326 with 10 RBI and only two strikeouts over 43 at-bats since June 10.

  • Isaac Paredes 3B | HOU

Tigers' Isaac Paredes: Splitting time at shortstop

Paredes will start at shortstop and bat eighth against the Cardinals.

Since Niko Goodrum sustained a sprained finger Friday that resulted in his move to the injured list, the Tigers have split the starts at shortstop between Harold Castro and Paredes, who will enter the lineup for the second time in three days. Both of the right-handed Paredes' starts have come against right-handed pitching, so the Tigers don't appear to be entertaining the idea of a platoon between Paredes and the lefty-hitting Castro.

  • Red Sox's Rafael Devers: Binging on RBI

Devers went 2-for-4 with three RBI and a run scored in Tuesday's 9-5 extra-innings win over the Rays.

Devers plated one run on a sacrifice fly in the third inning, then delivered the big blow, a two-run double in 11th inning to break a 5-5 tie. The third baseman has RBI in seven of the last eight games, delivering 12 runners while recording seven extra-base hits. For the season, Devers has a 1.163 OPS with runners in scoring position.

  • Matt Chapman 3B | SF

Athletics' Matt Chapman: Homers, drives in three

Chapman went 1-for-4 with a home run, three RBI and a walk in the 13-6 win over the Rangers on Tuesday.

Chapman slammed a two-run home run off Taylor Hearn in the first inning to get the offense rolling. He knocked in a third run in the following frame on a groundout. The third baseman has four long balls in his last nine games. For the season, he is slashing .226/.328/.399 with nine home runs, 35 RBI and 33 runs in 296 plate appearances. He rides a current 10-game hitting streak.

  • Josh Donaldson 3B | MIL

    Twins' Josh Donaldson: Remains sidelined

Donaldson (calf) will remain on the bench for Tuesday's game against the Reds.

Donaldson is dealing with calf issues yet again. He'll sit for the fifth straight game Tuesday, though he did appear off the bench Monday, so it looks as though he could return to the lineup soon, perhaps after Wednesday's scheduled off day. Miguel Sano will start at third base in his absence.

  • Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE

Indians' Jose Ramirez: Goes hitless in return

Ramirez went 0-for-4 in Monday's 4-0 win over the Cubs.

Ramirez wasn't in the starting lineup against Pittsburgh on Saturday or Sunday but went 0-for-1 as a pinch hitter in the latter. After his 0-for-4 performance Monday, the switch-hitting slugger is 18-for-60 (.300) with 14 RBI and eight extra-base hits this month.

  • Josh Donaldson 3B | MIL

Twins' Josh Donaldson: Remains on bench Monday

Donaldson (calf) is out of the lineup Monday against the Reds.

The veteran third baseman will sit for the fourth consecutive game as he continues to nurse a right calf injury. Luis Arraez will receive another start at the hot corner while Donaldson remains sidelined.

  • Matt Chapman 3B | SF

Athletics' Matt Chapman: Day off Monday

Chapman is not in the lineup Monday against the Rangers.

Chapman started the past 23 contests and will receive a breather Monday while in the midst of a nine-game hit streak in which he has gone 13-for-35 (.371 average) with three homers, four doubles, eight RBI and 10 runs. Chad Pinder will take over at the hot corner in the series opener.

  • Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE

Indians' Jose Ramirez: Returns to lineup

Ramirez (foot) is starting Monday's game against the Cubs.

Ramirez wasn't in the lineup for either of the last two games after exiting Friday's contest with a left foot contusion, but he went 0-for-1 as a pinch hitter Sunday. He'll start at the hot corner and bat third in Monday's series opener.
