  • Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE

Indians' Jose Ramirez: Swats homer in three-hit game

Ramirez went 3-for-5 with a home run, a double and two RBI in Friday's 8-5 loss to Boston.

The third baseman got Cleveland on the board with his fourth-inning solo shot off Boston starter Nathan Eovaldi. Ramirez added an RBI single in the ninth, but Cleveland's rally ended there. The three-hit effort ended his 0-for-11 skid at the plate -- a rare cold stretch in an otherwise strong campaign. He's slashing .260/.348/.551 with 32 homers, 86 RBI, 89 runs scored and 19 stolen bases through 520 plate appearances.

  • Matt Chapman 3B | SF

Athletics' Matt Chapman: In best offensive stretch of season

Chapman enters Friday's series opener against the Blue Jays having posted a .268/.359/.750 slash line with nine home runs over his last 17 games.

The Gold Glove third baseman's power surge since mid-August has been remarkable, with his two-homer, three-RBI effort versus the Tigers on Tuesday particularly standing out. Chapman has still struck out at a 31.3 percent clip during that 17-game span, which is right in line with his 31.6 percent season figure. However, his massive 42.9 percent HR/FB rate within the sample completely dwarfs his 15.5 percent year-long performance in that category, and goes a long way toward explaining his fantasy-friendly stretch.

  • Taylor Walls 3B | TB

Rays' Taylor Walls: Quiet in first two games back

Walls is 1-for-6 with two strikeouts in his first two games since being promoted from Triple-A Durham on Wednesday.

The rookie's first taste of big-league action came earlier this season, when he posted a .200/.311/.305 slash line with eight doubles, a home run, 13 RBI and three stolen bases across 38 games. His latest starts came while Wander Franco was out due to headaches, however, so it's not clear how much playing time Walls will get down the stretch as the Rays try to lock up an AL East title.

  • Gio Urshela 3B | MIN

Yankees' Gio Urshela: Still out with sore hand

Urshela (hand) is not in Friday's lineup against the Orioles.

He tested his sore left hand on the field prior to the lineup getting announced, but evidently Urshela needs at least one more day to get right. His MRI came back clean, per Max Goodman of SI.com. Rougned Odor will start at third base and hit eighth.

  • Royals' Emmanuel Rivera: Not in Friday's lineup

Rivera is out of the lineup Friday against the White Sox.

Rivera is 4-for-25 in his past nine contests and will take a seat for the second time in the past three days. Edward Olivares will take his place in the lineup while Adalberto Mondesi covers the hot corner Friday.

  • Tigers' Jeimer Candelario: Swats 11th homer

Candelario went 2-for-5 with a three-run home run during Thursday's loss to the A's.

Candelario took Deolis Guerra deep with a 388-foot shot in the seventh inning. He now has 11 long balls and 51 RBI on the year, bringing him close to surpassing his career high of 54 RBI.

  • Alex Bregman 3B | CHC

Astros' Alex Bregman: Removed for pinch runner

Bregman went 2-for-4 in Wednesday's 1-0 loss to the Mariners.

Bregman's second hit came in the ninth inning, and he was removed for a pinch runner, an indication that the Astros are being overly cautious with the infielder who is just returning from a lengthy stay on the injured list due to a quadriceps injury. The run was deemed important at the time, and manager Dusty Baker didn't want to risk Bregman pushing it and aggravating the injury.

  • Gio Urshela 3B | MIN

Yankees' Gio Urshela: Dealing with hand issue

Urshela is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Angels due to left hand soreness and will undergo an MRI on Thursday, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

Urshela apparently suffered the injury during Tuesday's contest while defending a double steal. Manager Aaron Boone said the 29-year-old is "pretty sore," so the infielder will receive Wednesday's game plus Thursday's scheduled off day to recover before potentially rejoining the lineup Friday versus Baltimore.

  • Royals' Emmanuel Rivera: Not starting Wednesday

Rivera isn't in the lineup Wednesday against Cleveland.

Rivera started each of the last 11 games, but he went just 1-for-8 with a double, two runs, two walks and a strikeout across his last three appearances. Hanser Alberto will take his place at third base and bat ninth.

  • Taylor Walls 3B | TB

Rays' Taylor Walls: Called up by Tampa Bay

Walls was recalled from Triple-A Durham on Wednesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Walls got off to a slow start after the All-Star break and went 1-for-15 with a double, an RBI and two walks across six games. However, he fared slightly better since returning to the minors in late July, as he slashed .224/.355/.469 with six homers, 26 runs, 15 RBI and six stolen bases across 29 games. Walls will slot into a backup role at shortstop behind Wander Franco.
