Tigers' Ryan Kreidler: Added to Saturday's lineup

Kreidler was added to the lineup for Saturday's game against the White Sox.

Kreidler was slated to get a day off Saturday, but he'll start at shortstop and bat seventh since Javier Baez (undisclosed) was scratched. Kreidler has hit just .189 with a home run, a double, four runs and two RBI over 11 games this month.

  • Josh Donaldson 3B | MIL

Yankees' Josh Donaldson: Homers, drives in three

Donaldson went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and two additional RBI in a 7-6 loss to the Brewers on Friday.

Donaldson's game-tying homer off Taylor Rogers in the top of the ninth was his 14th long ball of the season. The veteran third baseman is now slashing .212/.325/.394 with two home runs over 33 at-bats in September.

  • Tigers' Jeimer Candelario: Sitting Saturday

Candelario will be on the bench Saturday against the White Sox.

Candelario has gone hitless in six of his nine games thus far in September while striking out at a 35.3 percent clip. Harold Castro will start at the hot corner Saturday.

Tigers' Ryan Kreidler: Takes seat Saturday

Kreidler isn't starting Saturday against the White Sox.

Kreidler went 0-for-7 with a run and three strikeouts over the last two matchups and will head to the bench for the second time in the last four games. Harold Castro is starting at third base and batting cleanup.

  • Matt Chapman 3B | SF

Blue Jays' Matt Chapman: Goes yard twice Friday

Chapman went 3-for-4 with two home runs, three RBI and three runs scored in Friday's 6-3 win over the Orioles.

The third baseman got the Blue Jays on the board with a solo shot off Jordan Lyles in the second inning, then capped his team's scoring with a two-run blast off Joey Krehbiel in the sixth. Chapman snapped a 25-game homer drought with the performance, but on the season he's got 26 home runs and 71 RBI through 139 games, nearly identical power numbers to 2021.

  • Orioles' Gunnar Henderson: Launches second homer

Henderson went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 6-3 loss to the Blue Jays.

The dynamic rookie took Yimi Garcia deep in the ninth inning, giving Henderson his third straight multi-hit performance. Since his promotion at the end of August, the 21-year-old is slashing .333/.379/.574 through his first 15 big-league games with two homers, a steal, six runs and 10 RBI.

  • Red Sox's Ceddanne Rafaela: Delivers Sea Dogs to playoffs

Rafaela went 2-for-6 with a grand slam in win for Double-A Portland on Wednesday that clinched a playoff berth for the Sea Dogs.

Rafaela's bat, which had cooled in August, is hot once again. He's currently riding a seven-game hit streak, during which he's 12-for-32 with 15 RBI. At 5-foot-8, 159 pounds, Rafaela doesn't present as a powerful hitter, but he leads Boston's minor leaguers with 62 extra-base hits. Red Sox manager Alex Cora discussed the prospect Friday, telling Christopher Smith of MassLive.com, "it's very unique. His body, obviously he's not a big guy, but he's a strong kid. He punishes the ball to right-center. It seems like he has made progress as far as like swing decisions and all that." Rafaela has played both center field (89 starts) and shortstop (20 starts) and shows elite defense at each. He'll be Rule 5 eligible in the offseason, so the Red Sox will need to add Rafaela to the 40-man roster.

    Mariners' Eugenio Suarez: X-rays inconclusive

Suarez underwent an X-ray on his right index finger that was inconclusive following Friday's game against the Angels, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

Suarez sustained his injury while fielding a ground ball in the fourth inning and initially remained in the game, but he was ultimately removed in the fifth. The 31-year-old will likely undergo additional testing Saturday before the Mariners determine his status.

Mariners' Eugenio Suarez: Exits with injury

Suarez was removed from Friday's game against the Angels with an apparent right wrist injury, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

Suarez popped out during the fifth inning and clutched at his wrist as he ran to first base, and he didn't take the field for the bottom of the frame. The specifics of the issue remain unclear, and the 31-year-old should be considered day-to-day until more information becomes available.

  • DJ LeMahieu 2B | NYY

Yankees' DJ LeMahieu: Swings in cage

LeMahieu (toe) took some swings in the cage and tracked pitches on the field Friday, Meredith Marakovits of YES Network reports.

LeMahieu is already eligible to return from the injured list, but it looks as though he has a few more steps in his recovery to complete before being activated. That lines up with reports from last weekend, which indicated that LeMahieu was targeting a return sometime during the team's upcoming homestand that begins Tuesday.
