  • Jonah Bride 3B | TEX

Athletics' Jonah Bride: Sitting Sunday vs. Phillies

Bride is absent from the starting lineup for Sunday's game versus the Phillies.

Bride's struggled mightily at the plate as of late, and a .308 average June 9 has dropped to .209 after Bride went hitless over his last five games. Jace Peterson is playing third base and batting second against Philadelphia on Sunday while Tony Kemp gets a start at second base and hits seventh.

  • Orioles' Gunnar Henderson: Scratched from lineup

Henderson was scratched from Sunday's lineup against the Cubs for an undisclosed reason.

Henderson was set to lead off and play third base in the series finale, but he's now out of the lineup with Ramon Urias lined up at third base and hitting sixth, while Austin Hays moves to the leadoff spot. The Orioles should provide clarity on why Henderson is out of the lineup shortly.

  • Matt Chapman 3B | SF

Blue Jays' Matt Chapman: Not starting Sunday

Chapman is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's game versus the Rangers.

Chapman has appeared in 70 of Toronto's 72 games thus far this season, but the third baseman will get a day off for the series finale against Texas on Sunday. Santiago Espinal will take over at third base and hit seventh while Chapman rests.

  • Josh Jung 3B | TEX

Rangers' Josh Jung: Swats homer in win

Jung went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 4-2 win over the Blue Jays.

Jung hit the first of back-to-back homers in the second inning to erase an early deficit. It was his 14th of the season, ranking him second on the Rangers behind Adolis Garcia. The young third baseman's production has dropped off during June, which is something he'll have to fight through. Jung's made 285 plate appearances in 2023, the second highest career total behind his 2021 campaign in the minors, when he had a combined 342 PAs between Double- and Triple-A.

  • Josh Donaldson 3B | MIL

Yankees' Josh Donaldson: Sitting Game 1

Donaldson is out of the lineup for Game 1 of Sunday's doubleheader against the Red Sox, Erik Boland of Newsday reports.

Donaldson has a .176/.256/.618 slash line with five home runs in 11 games since he returned from the injured list at the start of June, but he'll take a seat for Sunday's matinee. There's a strong chance the veteran is back in the lineup for Game 2. DJ LeMahieu will man third base and bat fifth in the first contest.

  • Alex Bregman 3B | CHC

Astros' Alex Bregman: Struggling in June

Bregman went 0-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base Saturday against the Reds.

Bregman swiped his second base of the season, his lone bright spot in the game. He's scuffled since the calendar flipped to June, as he has only 11 hits across 57 at-bats. On the other hand, Bregman has struck out only 13 times in that span, so there is some indication that he'll be able turn things around in the near future.

  • Royals' Maikel Garcia: Picks up sixth steal

Garcia went 1-for-5 with an RBI, a stolen base and a run scored in Saturday's 10-9 win over the Angels.

Garcia went nine games without a steal before Saturday. He was a key piece of the Royals' walk-off win, delivering a game-tying RBI single, stealing second and then scoring the winning run on a Samad Taylor single. Garcia has a .254/.315/.354 slash line with a home run, 14 RBI, 13 runs scored and six steals through 37 contests, and he appears to be over his slump from earlier in June. He's seen most of his action at third base, primarily competing with Nicky Lopez for playing time.

  • Josh Donaldson 3B | MIL

Yankees' Josh Donaldson: Goes deep Friday

Donaldson went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's loss to Boston.

Donaldson's blast traveled 413 feet to left-center field, though it didn't mean much in the context of the outcome since New York was down by 10 runs at the time. The veteran third baseman has gone deep five times in 11 games since returning from the injured list June 2. However, he has only one other hit (a single) over that span.

  • Anthony Rendon 3B | LAA

Angels' Anthony Rendon: Won't return until Tuesday

Rendon (wrist) is not expected to return to the lineup until Tuesday's game against the Dodgers, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Rendon missed Friday's game against the Royals after getting hit in the wrist Thursday against Texas, and it looks like he'll miss the rest of the series as well. Luis Rengifo will start at third base in his absence Saturday.

  • Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE

Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Homers in Friday's loss

Ramirez went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 5-1 loss to the Diamondbacks.

Ramirez was the only Guardian to log multiple hits in the contest. It's his sixth multi-hit effort during his nine-game hitting streak, a span in which he's gone 18-for-39 (.462) with five homers and 11 RBI. The third baseman's recent surge has him up to a .292/.359/.510 with 11 long balls, 41 RBI, 40 runs scored, six stolen bases, 19 doubles and two triples through 65 contests overall. While there was little wrong with his start to the season, this is much more like the level of production Ramirez is known for.
