Twins' Jose Miranda: Expected to be called up

Miranda was scratched from the Triple-A St. Paul lineup Saturday and is expected to be called up after Royce Lewis left Saturday's Twins game with a strained oblique muscle, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports

Miranda began the season as Minnesota's everyday third baseman, but he was sent to Triple-A on May 10 after hitting just .220/.275/.318. Miranda hasn't been much better at Triple-A, as he's hit just .255/.326/.360 in 39 games. However, he has shown some progress lately, hitting .305/.374/.476 with two home runs in his last 20 games.

Twins' Royce Lewis: IL stint coming

The Twins will place Lewis on the 10-day injured list after he suffered a left oblique strain during Saturday's game against Baltimore, Phil Miller of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

After grabbing at his left side while running to first base, Lewis had to exit the game with a trainer in the third inning. No official move has been made yet, but Jose Miranda was scratched from Triple-A St. Paul's lineup Saturday, so it seems pretty close to a done deal at this point. Lewis was 8-for-20 with two RBI and two runs across his last five games entering Saturday, and he'll be eligible to return right after the All-Star break.

  • Mike Moustakas 3B | CHW

Angels' Mike Moustakas: Out of lineup

Moustakas isn't in the Angels' lineup Saturday against the Diamondbacks, Sarah Valenzuela of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Moustakas is 4-for-17 with a home run and two RBI through five games since joining the Angels, and he'll get a day off Saturday. Hunter Renfroe will make a rare start at first base in Moustakas' absence, allowing Mickey Moniak to start in right field and bat in the leadoff spot.

  • Isaac Paredes 3B | HOU

    Rays' Isaac Paredes: Sitting Saturday

Paredes isn't in the Rays' lineup Saturday against Seattle.

The 24-year-old third baseman is 4-for-17 with an RBI and two runs scored over his last five games, and he'll get a breather Saturday. Yandy Diaz will shift to third base in Paredes' absence, moving Luke Raley to first base and allowing Harold Ramirez to serve as the Rays' designated hitter.

Twins' Royce Lewis: Suffers oblique strain

Lewis was pulled from Saturday's game against Baltimore due to a left oblique strain, Audra Martin of Bally Sports North reports.

Lewis was grabbing at his left side while running to first base on a groundout in the third inning and had to be replaced at third base by Kyle Farmer. The severity of his injury is unclear, though an IL stint is certainly possible. The 24-year-old infielder is slashing .333/.361/.484 on the season through 97 plate appearances.

  • Royce Lewis 3B | MIN

Twins' Royce Lewis: Exits with injury

Lewis was removed from Saturday's game against the Orioles with an apparent injury, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Lewis appeared to be grabbing at his left side while running to first base and walked off the field alongside a trainer. Kyle Farmer has entered the game to cover third base, while Lewis will presumably undergo imaging to determine what the issue is. He should be considered day-to-day for now.

  • Anthony Rendon 3B | LAA

Angels' Anthony Rendon: Hitless in return

Rendon went 0-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout in a loss to Arizona on Friday.

Rendon was back in the lineup after missing two weeks due to a left wrist contusion. He took one free pass in four plate appearances in his return while slotting into the cleanup spot. Rendon should get ample run-producing opportunities hitting behind Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout, though he's done little offensively aside from drawing walks this season, slashing .243/.363/.309 with one homer, 21 RBI and two steals.

  • Taylor Walls 3B | TB

Rays' Taylor Walls: Two hits in return

Walls went 2-for-5 with an RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base Friday against the Mariners.

Walls was held out of the Rays' lineup for three games with a back issue, but he returned to tally his second multi-hit performance in 24 games in June. He hit just .175 for the month and also had only two stolen bases. Walls is hitting just .218 across 242 plate appearances on the campaign, but his versatility in the field and 12.4 percent walk rate give him the chance to play and rack up runs and stolen bases.

  • Josh Donaldson 3B | MIL

Yankees' Josh Donaldson: Sitting Game 1

Donaldson isn't in the Yankees' lineup for Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader against the Cardinals.

It's been tough at the plate for Donaldson this season, as he sports just a .143 batting average through 77 at-bats, but he has put together a three-game hitting streak. He'll sit out Game 1 while Oswaldo Cabrera starts at third base and bats eighth, but it's likely Donaldson returns for Game 2.

  • Josh Jung 3B | TEX

Rangers' Josh Jung: Burnishes All-Star nod

Jung went 1-for-3 with a walk and solo home run in Friday's 5-3 loss to Houston.

Jung hit the first of back-to-back homers in the fourth inning, the third baseman's 17th blast of the season. He's hit safely and driven in runs in four straight games, going 5-for-14 with two home runs, five RBI and four walks. Earlier this week, Jung was named an All-Star Game starter, the first Rangers rookie to start in the Midsummer Classic.
