Matt Vierling RF | DET
Tigers' Matt Vierling: Heading to bench Monday
Vierling is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Marlins.
Though he's served as the Tigers' primary third baseman while Gio Urshela (hamstring) has been on the injured list, Vierling will begin Monday's game on the bench while Zach McKinstry receives a turn at the hot corner. Urshela appears likely to return from the IL later this week, so Vierling could soon be headed to a part-time or short-side platoon role.

Isaac Paredes 3B | HOU
Rays' Isaac Paredes: Sitting out series opener
Paredes is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Red Sox.
Paredes was hit in the helmet by a pitch in the seventh inning of Sunday's 10-6 loss to the Yankees, but he stayed in the game after being checked out. His absence from the lineup a day later may create some level of concern about his health, but Paredes could just be receiving a maintenance day after he had started in each of the Rays' last nine games. Amed Rosario will replace Paredes at the hot corner Monday, and for now, the expectation is that Paredes will be back in the lineup Tuesday.

Ernie Clement SS | TOR
Blue Jays' Ernie Clement: Making fourth straight start
Clement will start at third base and bat ninth in Monday's game against the Orioles.
Clement will stick in the starting nine for the fourth straight game, but the veteran utility man doesn't seem to moving into a full-time role. He's been the beneficiary of all of George Springer, Kevin Kiermaier and Justin Turner being out of the lineup at least twice apiece in the past four games. Kiermaier is still dealing with an illness, but Springer and Turner look to be healthy and should return to the lineup Tuesday, at which point Clement will likely move back into a bench role.

DJ LeMahieu 2B | NYY
Yankees' DJ LeMahieu: Runs bases Sunday
LeMahieu (foot) ran the bases Sunday and will take live batting practice again Tuesday, Mark Didtler of the Associated Press reports.
Running the bases is a significant step in LeMahieu's recovery from a non-displaced fracture of his right foot. The veteran infielder has also been taking batting practice and fielding ground balls, and he could restart a minor-league rehab assignment soon. LeMahieu had begun a rehab stint April 23 but had to be pulled after just one inning due to experiencing soreness in the injured foot.

Jahmai Jones 2B | DET
Yankees' Jahmai Jones: Swats first big-league homer
Jones went 1-for-2 with a solo home run and a walk against the Rays in Sunday's 10-6 victory.
Jones enjoyed a career milestone when he belted a solo shot in the third inning for his first major-league home run. It was a rare opportunity for him to make an impact -- though Jones has stuck on the Yankees' roster throughout the campaign, Sunday marked just his second start, and he's seen only 10 plate appearances overall. Jones has gone 2-for-8 with a walk and a hit-by-pitch in his limited turns at the dish.

Maikel Garcia 3B | KC
Royals' Maikel Garcia: Records ninth steal
Garcia went 1-for-5 with a stolen base in Sunday's 4-2 win over the Angels.
Garcia has hit safely in eight of 11 games in May, going 12-for-47 (.255) with four doubles, four RBI and five runs scored. His steal Sunday was his first of the month and his ninth of the season, and he's yet to be caught stealing. The third baseman is slashing .238/.290/.375 with four home runs, 24 RBI and 20 runs scored over 184 plate appearances. While Garcia hasn't profiled as an ideal leadoff hitter, he's done enough to keep that spot through the first quarter of the campaign in a fairly strong lineup.

Danny Mendick 3B | CHW
White Sox's Danny Mendick: Nearing rehab assignment
Mendick (back) is expected to begin a rehab assignment in the near future, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
Mendick will begin a rehab assignment in the next day or two according to manager Pedro Grifol. The 30-year-old has been out since May 2 with lower-back tightness, but he appears to be on track to return to the major-league roster in the near future.

Josh Rojas 3B | CHW
Mariners' Josh Rojas: Resting with lefty on mound
Rojas is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Athletics.
The lefty-hitting Rojas will duck out of the starting nine for the series finale while southpaw Alex Wood takes the hill for Oakland. Luis Urias will fill in for Rojas at third base.
-
Josh H. Smith SS | TEX
Rangers' Josh Smith: Sitting against southpaw
Smith is out of the starting lineup for Sunday's series finale against the Rockies.
The lefty-hitting Smith went 0-for-4 with a strikeout in Saturday's 8-3 loss. He will begin Sunday's contest on the bench as the Rockies send out southpaw Ty Blach. Ezequiel Duran will fill in for Smith at third base.
-
Oswaldo Cabrera LF | NYY
Yankees' Oswaldo Cabrera: Sitting in series finale
Cabrera is out of the lineup for Sunday's series finale against Tampa Bay.
Cabrera went 0-for-2 in Saturday's 7-2 loss to the Rays and is slashing just .200/.246/.262 over his last 20 games. He finds himself on the bench for the second time in three games and could be losing hold of his regular role at third base. Jon Berti will fill in for Cabrera once again Sunday.
