  • Ernie Clement SS | TOR

Blue Jays' Ernie Clement: Taking seat Tuesday

Clement is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Reds.

Clement is absent from the starting nine for the first time in 28 games for what's likely a maintenance day. The infielder has been seeing the ball well this month, going 18-for-65 (.277) with a pair of homers, three stolen bases and a 10.3 percent K rate.

  • Jazz Chisholm 2B | NYY

Yankees' Jazz Chisholm: Boone: Minimum IL stay 'ambitious'

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Tuesday in his appearance on Jomboy Media's "Talkin' Yanks" podcast that it would be "a little ambitious" to think Chisholm (elbow) could return from the 10-day injured list when first eligible on Aug. 24.

Chisholm has, by all accounts, bounced back quickly from a UCL sprain in his left (non-throwing) elbow, as he's already resumed fielding grounders and hopes to be cleared to swing a bat soon. However, while the player had expressed optimism about returning when his 10 days are up, his manager is downplaying the possibility. A clearer timetable for Chisholm's return should be available in the coming days.

  • Ernie Clement SS | TOR

Blue Jays' Ernie Clement: Goes yard Monday

Clement went 1-for-3 with a solo home run during Monday's 6-3 loss to the Reds.

Clement salvaged his stat line with a ninth-inning homer off Alexis Diaz, the infielder's eighth long ball of the season. Clement is 6-for-24 (.250) with two home runs and a triple over his last six games and owns a .704 OPS on the year.

  • Paul DeJong SS | NYY

Royals' Paul DeJong: Slugs 21st homer

DeJong went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer in Monday's 5-3 win over the Angels.

The veteran infielder extended his team's lead to 3-0 when he launched a 397-foot, two-run homer off starter Carson Fulmer in the fourth inning. DeJong has fared well with Kansas City since arriving during the July 30 trade deadline, hitting .316 (12-for-38) with three homers, eight RBI, seven runs scored and 4:13 BB:K across 13 games. Overall, the 31-year-old veteran is slashing .237/.286/.448 in 406 plate appearances this season while playing for the Royals and White Sox.

  • Ramon Urias 3B | STL

    Orioles' Ramon Urias: Homers, doubles

Urias went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, a double and an additional run scored during Monday's 4-3 loss to the Mets.

Urias was one of few Orioles players to have success against Mets' starter David Peterson, tagging Peterson for a double in the fifth inning and a homer in the seventh inning. The third baseman has lifted three home runs in nine games, going 9-for-25 with eight RBI and five runs scored during that stretch.

  • Darell Hernaiz SS | ATH

Athletics' Darell Hernaiz: Sitting out Monday

Hernaiz is not in the lineup for Monday's contest against the Rays, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Hernaiz had started each of the last five and seven of the last eight games at third base, but he will begin this one on the bench. Abraham Toro is getting the call at the hot corner in the series opener versus the Rays.

  • Anthony Rendon 3B | LAA

Angels' Anthony Rendon: Returns to lineup

Rendon (elbow) will start at third base and bat fifth in Monday's game in Kansas City, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports.

Rendon sat out the previous two contests with a sore right elbow as a result of a hit-by-pitch, but he's feeling well enough to give it a go in this one. The veteran third baseman is slashing a dreadful .235/.312/.281 for the Halos this season.

  • Royals' Maikel Garcia: Taking seat Monday

Garcia is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Angels.

Garcia took a seat in back-to-back games for the first time all year Wednesday and Friday but returned to the lineup for a pair of games against the Reds over the weekend. Once again, the 24-year-old is absent from the starting nine, giving way to Paul DeJong at third base Monday.

  • Alex Bregman 3B | CHC

Astros' Alex Bregman: Held out again Monday

Bregman (elbow) remains out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Red Sox, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Bregman will hit the bench for a fourth straight game due to swelling in the back of his right elbow. According to MLB.com, manager Joe Espada said that Bregman has resumed hitting in the batting cage and taking ground balls, but Rome speculates that the third baseman could nonetheless remain out of the lineup until the beginning of the Astros' road trip Thursday in Baltimore. Shay Whitcomb will get another start at third base Monday in place of Bregman.

  • Josh Rojas 3B | CHW

Mariners' Josh Rojas: Belts seventh homer

Rojas went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a walk and an additional run in a win over the Pirates on Sunday.

Rojas delivered his first home run of August in the fourth inning to extend the Mariners' lead to 5-0 at the time. The multi-hit effort was Rojas' first since the last time he'd left the yard July 31, and it snapped an 0-for-12 slump that had encompassed his previous four games. Despite the productive day Sunday, Rojas' bat has lost almost all of its early-season sizzle, as he's carrying a .198 average and .599 OPS over the 62 games he's played since June 1.
