  • Josh Donaldson 3B | MIL

Blue Jays' Josh Donaldson: Officially lands on DL

Donaldson (calf) was placed on the 10-day disabled list Friday, Mike Wilner of the Blue Jays Radio Network reports.

As expected, Donaldson will get the chance to fully rest his ailing calf for at least the next 10 days. Chris Coghlan was called up to the big leagues to take his roster spot, but look for Darwin Barney to pick up extra playing time at the hot corner.

  • Red Sox's Rafael Devers: Fast start at Double-A

Devers is off to a hot start for Double-A Portland, going 10-for-25 (.400) with one home run and six RBI through six games.

The 20-year-old enjoyed arguably his best season at the dish in 2016, hitting 11 home runs while stealing a career-best 18 bases. He also nearly doubled his walk total from the prior season. Devers is an elite talent who may only just be scratching the surface of his potential.

Blue Jays' Josh Donaldson: Expected to hit disabled list

Donaldson (calf) likely will be placed on the 10-day disabled list with a calf injury Friday, Jon Paul Morosi of MLB.com reports.

Morosi said more information will be coming throughout the day, but this obviously would be a huge blow to Donaldson's fantasy owners and the Blue Jays. The stud third baseman has had a few starts and stops with this injury since spring training, but Toronto finally has decided to give him some rest. Expect Darwin Barney to get most of the hot corner work in his place, though Ryan Goins may chime in, as well. AL-only fantasy players are the target audience for these utility infielders.

  • Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE

Indians' Jose Ramirez: Hits three singles against Pale Hose

Ramirez went 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI during Thursday's loss to the White Sox.

After turning heads with a standout campaign in 2016, Ramirez is limping along to start 2017. With just two runs, a home run, six RBI and a .250/.324/.406 slash line, fantasy owners should hope he can parlay his three-hit showing against Chicago into a solid run at the dish. It's important to add that he's now played nine games at second base, so depending on your positional eligibility rules, Ramirez either already qualifies at the keystone or could soon. That's a nice bonus to your roster flexibility.

  • Cody Asche 3B | NYM

White Sox's Cody Asche: Goes 1-for-4 against Indians

Asche went 1-for-4 with a run and an RBI during Thursday's win over Cleveland.

The first-year Sox is just 2-for-20 on the season, and his playing time could be in jeopardy with Todd Frazier (illness) expected to return to the field Friday and Matt Davidson hitting well (five RBI over the past two games). Asche sports a career .238/.297/.381 slash line with a .296 wOBA, so he's not moving the needle in many fantasy settings.

  • Josh Donaldson 3B | MIL

Blue Jays' Josh Donaldson: Re-injures calf, will be evaluated Friday

Donaldson (leg) re-injured his right calf during Thursday's game against the Orioles and will be evaluated Friday, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet reports

Donaldson felt a twinge of pain during his sixth-inning double Thursday, which forced him to exit the game. His re-injury certainly isn't good news considering the team had attempted to limit stress on Donaldson's calf by just using him as a designated hitter as of late. The Blue Jays have yet to offer an official diagnosis or timetable for his return, though more information will come Friday.

  • Josh Donaldson 3B | MIL

Blue Jays' Josh Donaldson: Leaves Thursday with apparent leg injury

Donaldson (leg) exited Thursday's game against the Orioles after running out an RBI double in the sixth inning, Sportsnet's Shi Davidi reports.

This is concerning news for Donaldson as he had been serving as the Blue Jays' designated hitter of late to limit additional stress on his ailing calf. Donaldson appeared to be fine running down the first base line in his first at-bat, but he clearly felt a twinge on his sixth-inning double. Jarrod Saltalamacchia will take over as the Blue Jays' DH for the rest of Thursday's game and more information on Donaldson's status figures to be made available later Thursday.

  • Trevor Plouffe 3B | PHI

Athletics' Trevor Plouffe: Productive day Wednesday

Plouffe went 1-for-2 with a sacrifice fly, a single, a walk and two runs in Wednesday's 8-3 win over the Royals.

Plouffe's early struggles have dropped him to eighth in the order for the time being, but Wednesday's outing was a bright spot in an otherwise dismal start. While he's yet to record a multi-hit game or extra-base hit, the veteran third baseman has hit safely in four of his last six games. His average still stands at an unsightly .179 through 31 plate appearances, so Plouffe will presumably need to put together a solid stretch of hitting before reverting to a more favorable part of the lineup.

  • Matt Duffy 3B | TEX

Rays' Matt Duffy: Partaking in daily workouts at Tropicana Field

Duffy (heel) is working out daily at Tropicana Field but still doesn't have a definitive timetable for his 2017 debut, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Duffy's slow recovery from heel surgery has been the subject of a bit of hand-wringing, and the shorstop apparently still lacks sufficient strength in the area to contemplate a return to action. Tim Beckham and rookie Daniel Robertson continue to man the position for the Rays in Duffy's stead.

  • Yoan Moncada 3B | LAA

White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Mixed results so far at Triple-A

Moncada has a .387/.457/.613 line in 31 at-bats during his first seven games of the year with Triple-A Charlotte, Ryan Hannable of WEEI.com reports. Moncada has two home runs, four walks and 10 strikeouts in that time.

The whiffs are likely the most surprising, but they reflect a trend of shaky plate discipline he showed during his brief 2016 MLB sample as a rookie. It helps that Moncada continues to mash around those struggles, but it also shows why the White Sox may keep him down on the farm for seasoning even beyond May 13, when they would gain an extra year of control over his rights.
