Romy Gonzalez 2B | BOS
White Sox's Romy Gonzalez: Remains on bench
Gonzalez will sit for the second straight game Saturday against the Tigers.
Gonzalez has been the White Sox's primary second baseman since late August, but his playing time may be slipping. Going 2-for-25 with 11 strikeouts over his last nine games presumably isn't helping his case for starts. Josh Harrison will handle the keystone Saturday.

Jonathan India 2B | KC
Reds' Jonathan India: Riding pine Saturday
India isn't starting Saturday against the Brewers.
India is getting a rare day off after he went 3-for-15 with three RBI, two runs, a stolen base, three walks and six strikeouts over the last four games. Alejo Lopez will start at the keystone and bat fifth.

Nico Hoerner 2B | CHC
Cubs' Nico Hoerner: On bench again Saturday
Hoerner (triceps) isn't starting Saturday against the Pirates.
Hoerner will go through normal baseball activities ahead of Saturday's matchup but will be held out of the lineup for a 12th consecutive game. Zach McKinstry will remain at shortstop and lead off.

Cavan Biggio RF | HOU
Blue Jays' Cavan Biggio: Resting Saturday
Biggio isn't starting Saturday against Tampa Bay.
Although the Blue Jays are facing a right-hander (Drew Rasmussen) during Saturday's matchup, Biggio will retreat to the bench once again. Whit Merrifield is starting at second base and appears to be the preferred option at the keystone while Santiago Espinal (oblique) is sidelined.

Michael Massey 2B | KC
Royals' Michael Massey: Out of lineup
Massey will sit Saturday against Seattle.
Massey has been starting regularly since early August, but he now finds himself on the bench for the second time in three games. His .248/.323/.362 line through his first 44 major-league games doesn't make a great case for everyday at-bats, and he's gone just 1-for-16 with seven strikeouts in his last four appearances. Nicky Lopez will start at second base Saturday.

David Villar 1B | SF
Giants' David Villar: Pops two-run blast
Villar went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's 6-5 win over the Diamondbacks.
Villar homered for the second time in four games, and all but one of his seven long balls this year have come in September. For the season, the infielder is slashing .215/.322/.438 with 19 RBI, 18 runs scored, six doubles and a triple across 152 major-league plate appearances.

Andres Gimenez SS | TOR
Guardians' Andres Gimenez: Picks up steal
Gimenez went 1-for-3 with an RBI, a stolen base and a run scored in Friday's 6-3 win over the Rangers.
Gimenez has had a good week, going 8-for-20 with five RBI, four runs and a steal in his last five games. The speedy infielder is up to 19 steals this year, matching his total from the previous two years combined. He's added a .302/.374/.473 slash line with 16 home runs, 67 RBI, 63 runs scored, 25 doubles and three triples in 138 contests.

Ernie Clement 2B | TOR
Athletics' Ernie Clement: Activated by Athletics
Clement was added to the Athletics' active roster Saturday.
The 26-year-old was claimed off waivers by Oakland on Friday and will join the active roster a day later after Sheldon Neuse was designated for assignment. Clement hit .200 with 18 runs and six RBI over 64 games with the Guardians earlier in the year, and he should serve as a utility man with his new club.

Rylan Bannon 2B | NYM
Braves' Rylan Bannon: Sent down Saturday
Bannon was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett on Saturday.
Bannon was called up by Atlanta on Sunday but saw minimal playing time during his stint with the major-league club. He'll head back to the minors after Ehire Adrianza (quadriceps) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list.

Christian Arroyo 2B | NYM
Red Sox's Christian Arroyo: Remains out of lineup
Arroyo (illness) isn't starting Saturday against the Yankees, Christopher Smith of The Springfield Republican reports.
Arroyo hasn't played since Sept. 18 due to a non-COVID illness, but he's with the Red Sox during their current road trip in New York. Enrique Hernandez will start at the keystone and bat fifth Saturday.
